HHC Posted May 29, 2012 Posted May 29, 2012 I'm an alpha female, of sorts. I ended up with a quiet introverted 'beta' male. I overlooked a lot of the things he wasnt because he complemented me in so many other, and important ways. Now, fo course the lack of passion and standing up for himself is causing an issue. It was always going to cause an issue and I think I he's been able to see that his behaviour needs to change not only to benefit me and us but him as well. He's far more assertive than he used to be and tells me the truth no matter if it's nice or not and I need that. You just need to figure out what you need and what you want and go from there. I can't handle Alpha males in a relationship. They're good for lovers but not relationships
TheFinalWord Posted May 29, 2012 Posted May 29, 2012 I see your point but let's not get all technical about it. Let's use Society at Large as an example shall we? Beta Males on TV Being a Beta Males doesn't mean you are ugly, dorky, dumb, anti-social and can't date, etc. There are a lot of woman that wouldn't mind being with several of the men below: Al Bundy - Married with Children Ray Barone - Everbody Loves Raymond Doug Heffernan - King of Queens Ted Mosby - How I Met Your Mother Alan Harper - Two and a Half Men Phil Dunphy - Modern Family Dr. Dorian - Scrubs Ross - Friends Alpha Males on TV The Alpha Males below speak for themselves, know what you are getting, you know what you can expect, etc... Captain Kirk - Star Trek Don Draper - Mad Men Jack Donaghy - 30 Rock Raylan Givens - Justified Harvey Specter - Suits Michael Weston - Burn Notice Gregory House - House McDreamy or McSteamy - Grey's Anatomy Barney Stinson - How I Met Your Mother Alpha Males in Movies Steve McQueen - Any Clint Eastwood - Any Sean Connery - Any Gene Hackman - In almost every movie Bruce Willis - In almost every movie jack Nicholson - In almost every movie Russell Crowe - Gladiator and several others Matt Damon - Jason Bourne George Cloney - Oceans 11 and several others Brad Pitt - Fight Club and several others Jason Statham - Any Robert Downey Jr. - In anything of late Harrison Ford - Star Wars / Indiana Jones Those illustrations suck! (alpha) I like Clint Eastood though (beta) How do these guys fit the mold? ... Fezzik from Princess Bride. Very compassionate, but I don't think anyone would call a 500lb 7 foot giant beta! :lmao:Let's not forget Inigo Montonya, classic romantic swordsman, fair fighter, often yield small advantages to his enemies and then cuts their throats! If this alpha/beta theory is true it has to be applicable throughout all ages!
TheFinalWord Posted May 29, 2012 Posted May 29, 2012 You say Clint Eastwood is a Beta Male but pick Fezzik and Inigo from The Princess Bride? Okay... lol! LOL I'm just playing around Probably not easy to tell on-line I was showing that I can act alpha with one statement and beta in the next... I personally think we all have both traits. I can be pretty alpha, but when I feel connected with a woman and intimate, I can be pretty vulnerable and beta-like.
