Last Memorial Day, went to Gettysburg with the ex, meant a lot to me.

 

 

Not just that, the following weekend, her best friend is getting married. When they became engaged, I was her +1, but now she's with some other dude.

It's a year next month that he got rid of me. It was a short-ish but very intense and passionate relationship - the most important of our lives, and we had both been with other people for 20 years (I had been married for 22 years and him for 10). This last year has been Hell, with a constant stream of anniversaries. I have spent the afternoon in tears after seeing him. He won't care about having seen, and spoken, to me but will instead be looking forward to a sunny weekend with my replacement, while driving around with her in his new sports car. I thought my heart couldn't break any more but I was wrong and I really thought I'd be ok about the meeting but I was wrong.
