binny Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 I know it has been a while since I last posted here.. but.. I need some advice.. What counts as a date? At the weekend I went out to lunch with a guy from work and then we went to the cinema. He got up to go pay the bill and I said that I needed to pay for my half.. but he said "that's ok you can give me the cash later" so when he came back to the table, I gave him the cash for my half of the meal, he looked a bit confused but accepted it. That doesn't count as a date does it? There were quite a few awkward silences as well because I didn't know what to say.. He even made the comment of "you are normally so chatty at work, what's wrong with you!" Have I just ruined a possible friendship because I just didn't know what to say?
Yookie Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 He was trying to take you on a date. If you just want to be friends you should have told him so before it got awkward.
Author binny Posted May 22, 2012 Author Posted May 22, 2012 thanks for the reply. Oh, wasn't sure whether it was supposed to be a date or not. I'm sure he was talking about getting married or something not that long ago but it would have been an arranged marriage. I didn't mean to make it awkward. Well I didn't think it was very awkward, we spoke a lot during the meal (mostly about work and stuff..) but as we were wondering around afterwards neither of us could think of any topics to talk about.. We still talk and hopefully we will still hang out, we enjoy similar movies and stuff. I'm not sure how I feel about him, he's a nice guy but just don't know him well enough I guess to know if it would work out. As we work together I would want to be bit cautious. Have you go any advice on how I could make it less awkward next time we hang out?
