FitChick Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 Remember Samantha Brick, who was as thick as a brick to believe women hated her because she was so beautiful? Now she is writing about her status as trophy wife. To be fair, her first husband was a trophy husband so I guess she wants to see how the other half lives. I confess she does make a few valid points in this article. I'm sure Frustrated Standards will now become a fan. I just wish someone would sneak into their bedroom at night and shave off her husband's disco fever mustache!
Woggle Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 It seems like she went from one extreme to another. Have people just given up on the concept of a mutually loving and equal we are in this together kind of marriage? It sure seems that way.
Author FitChick Posted May 21, 2012 Author Posted May 21, 2012 I predict that her next article will be about the divorce and how he beat the crap out of her, practiced mind control and held her hostage.
gaius Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 She reminds me of a lot of the guys around here who chirp about being alpha males. Good for her husband, play into their delusions and you'll win them forever. Yours to do with as you please. Smart man he is.
d'Arthez Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 What does it say about our culture that she even gets the space in a media publication? 1
threebyfate Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 What does it say about our culture that she even gets the space in a media publication? The Fail Online is a branch of the Daily Fail. Both are gossip rags extraordinaire.
serial muse Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 The Fail Online is a branch of the Daily Fail. Both are gossip rags extraordinaire. Yes..."media" in this case needs some heavy scare quotes. I also underlined them and put them in italics.
d'Arthez Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 The Fail Online is a branch of the Daily Fail. Both are gossip rags extraordinaire. I am well aware of that, but can't it be closed down on public health grounds?
threebyfate Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 Yes..."media" in this case needs some heavy scare quotes. I also underlined them and put them in italics.Haha...one step shy of alien penetration stories!
threebyfate Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 I am well aware of that' date=' but can't it be closed down on public health grounds?[/quote']YES, nothing but a scorched earth policy for rags like this!
d'Arthez Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 YES, nothing but a scorched earth policy for rags like this! That would get the environmental movement upset. Sometimes I just feel that willful stupidity should be criminalized. 2
Author FitChick Posted May 22, 2012 Author Posted May 22, 2012 YES, nothing but a scorched earth policy for rags like this! And let's throw the Huffington Post on the bonfire, too! And the National Enquirer! And US Weekly! Interesting sidebar: I used to know someone who wrote for the National Enquirer. He had been a "serious journalist" but said the tabloids paid big money and he had three kids and a wife to support. He always needed at least two sources for a story because the Enquirer wanted to avoid lawsuits, and most of his sources for celebrity gossip were publicists, hairdressers, makeup artists and wardrobe people. He told me a few stories that were too hot for publication, one of which involved a beautiful Academy Award nominated actress who had worked as a high priced call girl for the Mob before her career took off. My lips are sealed!
Radu Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 I read it. That's not a trophy wife, that's someone who roleplays trophy wife. Who decided that she had the financial security to fall back on [she is not poor] to afford to be dominated in her marriage. Really, doing something like this in western countries is considered as ... empowering ? Because i know a lot of happily married women over here who know exactly how she feels.
threebyfate Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 That's a good point. This does sound like a dom/sub relationship.
matte123 Posted May 23, 2012 Posted May 23, 2012 I don't consider her a trophy wife and still do not understand why she likes being in this relationship when so many things in her life is controlled by her husband. This is nothing to be proud about :/
johan Posted May 24, 2012 Posted May 24, 2012 Haha...one step shy of alien penetration stories! Can we please not go there again?
Els Posted May 24, 2012 Posted May 24, 2012 Seems like the crappier the story, the better it sells. Now there's something they don't teach journalists in school. Good on whoever wrote this for snagging that market niche.
threebyfate Posted May 24, 2012 Posted May 24, 2012 Can we please not go there again?Didn't enjoy the initial encounter? The Daily Fail would give you megabucks for a firsthand recounting, especially if it includes an authorized tinfoil hat pic! Anyone else notice how awful her wardrobe selection? Proof positive that men have no fashion sense.
HallowedBeThyName Posted May 24, 2012 Posted May 24, 2012 can someone tell that broad that she's ugly as hell? Jesus christ, do men not have any standards in the UK?
anne1707 Posted May 24, 2012 Posted May 24, 2012 Jesus christ, do men not have any standards in the UK? She lives in France and her husband is French. She is seen as an object of ridicule in the UK.
