d'Arthez Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 There are tons of specialisations. Somce CBT-psychologists specialise on phobias. Others on relationships, etc. Usually it is a good idea to call them, explain your issue, before you commit yourself to a particular one. It may also be an idea to ask your friends who have gone for some therapy who they'd recommend.
Author hrtbroken Posted May 21, 2012 Author Posted May 21, 2012 so that's what the receptionist said...intake. is therapy usually every week or every 2 weeks? my friends haven't really seen a therapist. i think it's still kind of taboo for my friends with regards to therapy, but they did seem supportive when i mentioned it.
d'Arthez Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 Really depends on what you want, and how major your issues are, willing to pay etc. (this mostly applies when you have limited / no savings, and thus are expending part of your salary on paying the psychologist). Usually once a week or once every 2 weeks is good.

I was lucky my graduate health insurance covered the cost and I only had a $15 copay for each session, I went once a week initially and gradually tapered to once a month.
