Watching the Bachelorette (sue me lol) and these men, hunks mind you, are kissing ass, showing up on skateboards, bringing notes from kids, shoes for cinderella, yes the list goes on. They put her on a pedestal which I thought you DON'T do to a woman??

Yes I'm sure TV has something to do with it but these guys act like she's a godess and they don't even know her. No wonder some women are so picky and stuck up.

Kind of a weird situation tho since it is a competition with a prize ( dont know much about it but it does have a prize right?)

Since they have the bachelor too and they compete for the guy it isn't so bad at least it is even.

Why is it so often that reality TV has literally nothing to do with actual REALITY?

The longer you stay on the show, the more you will get laid by 100s of regular women afterwards with little effort. The longer you stay on the show, the more likely you will get some career in showbusiness afterwards. The more of a supplicating fool you make of yourself, the greater chance they will tell the bachette to keep you around.

This.

Plus, you might end up the next Bachelor, with women doing all that stuff mentioned in the OP for you.

Yeah, and on the Bachelor, some of the women are trying to service him in the closet the first night.

Nice one! first night eh, they dont muck around, though their grandparents wouldn't have been impressed. Sounds like the competition has gone up a notch since the first season.

Some gals are stuck-up because that's their personality, how they were raise, or their environment conditioned or reinforced it. No different than how some guys are stuck-up.

As for making note of The Bachelorette as a correlation as to no wonder some gals are so picky and stuck up the show is a spin off The Bachelor and on both the eligible person is generally placed on a pedestal. On The Bachelor there are these gals many who are young babes kissing his ass, servicing him, placating and pandering to him, and treating him like a god.

It's a reality show (meaning that it portrays anything but reality) geared towards chix. Basically, it's the female version of a James Bond movie. Which woman doesn't fantasize about having a bunch of very hot guys competing for her attention and putting her on a pedestal?

The problem is that some women watch TV and think that's how things are supposed to be in real life. And they wonder why at 40 years of age and well past their prime, they are still waiting for that perfect prince to show up.

It does outline one fact: beautiful woman are sought after; as long as they sound sweet enough and do not come across terribly far more guys will chase them, than the amount of guys that would go after a non beautiful girl ( even if that average girl has a far better personality).

This notion really does not offend me, because beauty is just a too to get u noticed more readily, by both sexes. We all know looks do not make for a relationship... it just gets interest in you.

I have not watched these shows, but in the past I have flicked through stations on TV and seen snippets of these shows you mention.... The beautiful girl DOES sound quiet sweet and nice.. but, who knows who she really is on TV?

Do the relationships really last after the show finishes?

Beautiful people can easily GET a realty

Cause if it was actual REALITY, it would be an hour of watching someone microwave a burrito, eat it, throw away the wrapper, take a dump, then turn on the TV, where we see them watching a reality show, with another guy sleeping and buying milk and cayenne peppers...

And this would repeat, on and on, until someone says... wait a minute. Reality is actually kinda boring.

Let's just not make it "real" then ;) And I"m sure, it was some douchey guy in a boardroom who used his two fingers to make the double quotes when he said "real"...

I have watched these shows in the past ( not followed the entire show, but seen enough of it to know what it is about).

They are just good fun to me.. I do not always need profound, remarkable, throught provoking material lol.

I do wonder how many people can truly be themselves, though, whilst on tv...

I'd take an average woman with a great personality any day over a bombshell who was boaring, not that I could get a bombshell. I think the bachelorette is up there on the attractiveness scale but I wouldn't call her beautiful. Eva Longoria and Kate beckinsale blow her out of the water for me!!!

It is called selective editing for viewers like you. Isn't there like a million dollar prize and then they have to choose between the money or each other? Maybe it was some other show, but I don't mind faking it for a mil.

They're stuck up because they've had males tell them they are pretty their entire lives. They get on shows like that for the attention and reinforcement. They've never had to develop much true intelligence, personality or morals. In short, you'd have a pretty drone, which may be fun for one thing but would it would get old fast.

Sex sells. You put a bunch of beautiful people together vying for the attention of another beautiful person. Media deviously reinforces the importance of certain "qualities" that will ensure you get chased by beautiful people.

It's all about money, folks...just look at the kinds of commercials and ads playing during the shows...I would bet the farm that most of them fall into the same general category...

Lol at using some reality show as a measure of real life.
