trist Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 look, even as a hetero male, i got one word for you... ADELE... man, i've always said, the guy who messed her up made her a millionaire... but i dig music so in terms of songs that make you reminisce about someone is as follows... the two that always hit home are "RUN" - Snow Patrol "The Scientist" - Coldplay "Somebody I Used To Know" - Gotya "Look At What You've Done" - Jet "Look After You" - The Fray "Boston" - Augustana "Fade Into You" - Mazzy Star "Breathe Me" - Sia "Fix You" - Coldplay "9 Crimes" - Damien Rice "Falling Slowly" - Glen Hansard (of The Frames) wait, i might be getting carried away, i was just listing songs that help me sleep at night but can be conceived as depressing??
GorillaTheater Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 It's a little old school, and off the beaten path, but I remember shedding a tear or two while listening to this: Kris Kristofferson - Loving Her Was Easier 1972 - YouTube You don't run across too many country-singing Rhodes scholars.
Joaquin Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 The Script..... Incl. Breakeven, Nothing, If you ever come back.... Great band. 1
Jono85 Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 depends what you're looking for. like moving on songs to make you feel better, or sad depressing songs that get all that crying out lol. for the latter, City and Colour is great to bring the tears flooding. i could listen to this guys voice forever
rAFC Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 I'd also add the song Smile by David Gilmour (from Pink Floyd). Smile - Live In Gda
eles83 Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 I love this post. EVERYTHING is going on my playlist. Just because. Adding to the list, first here are the two I have been listening to: Jenny Owen Youngs: F**k Was I (if this gets her more fans, it would almost have been worth my emotional death) Sam Cooke: Bring It On Home Sam Cooke | Bring it On Home to Me | 1962 - YouTube Almost Anything by Sherwood, such as... Sherwood - The Only Song - YouTube and maybe... A note about Sherwood that may actually be helpful: they sing a lot of break-up songs, but their sound is really bright and upbeat, so it always makes me feel like there's a thread of optimism throughout the whole thing. When I'm feeling a little bit stronger, there's always: You'll Lose a Good Thing Sam Cooke: That's It - I Quit - I'm Moving On Sam Cooke - That's It, I Quit, I'm Moving On (Original Stereo) - YouTube Sam Cooke: I'm Gonna Forget About You (I can't find this on youtube, but if you're interested let me know...) Amazon.com: I'm Gonna Forget About You: Sam Cooke: MP3 Downloads (yeah, it's a lot of Sam. He's pretty much my boyfriend now) There's a lot more, but I should probably stop here for now.

Author Own Worst Enemy Posted May 15, 2012 Author Posted May 15, 2012 I said "go your own way" and then there's a "dreams" recommendation - in fact that entire "rumours" album is break-up-tastic. ESP when you think that the 2 couples in the band were splitting up at the time, and afterwards admitted they were all writing about each other.... Has anyone discovered any new favourite fck you songs??
