Mrlonelyone Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 I would like to debunk the idea that there is a link between low testosterone and being feminine in thought or action. There are many studies which point towards homosexual men having more testosterone in their bodies. Inspite of all of the vicious stereotypes homosexual men are not in fact feminine... yet they are attracted to men. Male to female transsexuals do have less testosterone or are mildly insensitive to it's action. Those of us who are attracted to men in a strong way may present as gay/ bi but slanted towards men at first. This causes some of the confusion. There also exist individuals who are completely insensitive to testosterones.. such as this person. XY chromosomes but externally female from birth. These people are not transgender but they are different. CAIS women, inspite of how they look, actually have more testosterone in their bodies on average than men. Inspite of their XY chromosomes another gene that codes for androgen receptivity is mutated and it does not effect them the way it should. The bottom line for me is that there are lots of variations in nature from 100% androtype perfect masculinity to 100% female type perfect femininty and everything in between. Most people are very close to those two poles. But those of us who are not need love too. 1
carhill Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 Men with higher testosterone more masculine behaviors may piss me off, but I'm a lot more attracted to them. Paying respect to the subsequent discussion and Mr. Lonelyone's excellent explanation as a transgender, I think it's the attraction to masculine behaviors which rules here, more so than the man-boobs being unattractive. It is interesting how you phrased your attraction style. Maybe that's relevant too. Would you be attracted to a man with masculine behaviors who didn't piss you off?
Author daphne Posted May 12, 2012 Author Posted May 12, 2012 Here is a whole other medical explanation no one has mentioned: Pectus Excavatum. Many men have varying degrees of it and it gives the appearance of man boobs because of genetics. He stretched and didn't appear to have that. Wait. So Daphne likes men in skirts, but not men with boobies? WHY ARE WOMEN SO COMPLICATED??? Man skirts are so 2010 (I think?) There has never been a year for man boobs. Or men who are boobs. I bet the guy you were out with was wearing a compression shirt. I wear those shirts when I play Hockey/Lacrosse. They are basically just another layer of skin. A very VERY tight shirt. Under-armor makes a ton of them for sports players. Some people who have gyno wear those shirts underneath their other ones. It helps 'mask' the visuals of gyno. This. It didn't look like a bra but something was definitely pulling him in. Reminded me of what spanx does to women's butts. The man boob fairy. Duh. You're just jealous. You'd like to have something to preoccupy you when tv sucks. I think they went hand in hand for me. I know that once I saw them, I had no interest. Yes, I love masculine men who don't piss me off. They're the best. I don't mind if they have a touch of feminine either. They tend to make better partners, I believe. But a touch goes a long way. I think this thread has brought out some seriously weird thoughts, assumptions and just insane negative beliefs that have nothing to do with the post which was meant to be light hearted. I find it interesting that the one person who might take issue with my post making light of it, has not at all. 1
threebyfate Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 I suspect he may have been chubby as a kid. He did somewhat have more of a feminine personality than I care for. I noticed it, even from the way he talked. It was a bit grating. He had way too much expressiveness, much like a female school teacher to a child. It's starting to make sense. He is just too feminine for me, even if he didn't have man boobs. Men with higher testosterone may piss me off, but I'm a lot more attracted to them. Possibly female to male transitioning/ed?
Author daphne Posted May 12, 2012 Author Posted May 12, 2012 Possibly female to male transitioning/ed? Highly doubtful. He has kids with an ex wife. His features don't look feminine at all (well, with one exception.) It's more the way he talks in a way as if he was talking to kids. I wish I could explain it better.
pink_sugar Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 I've heard before on health shows that fat produced from things like soda and alcohol like beers definitely contribute to beer bellies and man boobs. Something about the fat produces more estrogen in men. Thus a ton of sugar from sodas can act the same as a beer in terms of beer guts and bellies.
EasyHeart Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 Note to self: If you ever get a date with Daphne, make sure to wear a loose shirt. Or maybe a muumuu.
johan Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 You're just jealous. You'd like to have something to preoccupy you when tv sucks. Maybe. But if man boobs are the solution, I'd much rather they be attached to a pretty girl. That would be a better preoccupation. 1
Radu Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 Maybe. But if man boobs are the solution, I'd much rather they be attached to a pretty girl. That would be a better preoccupation. Hey, someone needs to pickup the slack for girls with mosquito bite boobs. 1
Author daphne Posted May 13, 2012 Author Posted May 13, 2012 Note to self: If you ever get a date with Daphne, make sure to wear a loose shirt. Or maybe a muumuu. Dude. You just totally blew my image of you as a stud. Totally.
sid3 Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 I'm looking forward to your next dating adventure, 3rd times a charm, or so they say. 1
Feelin Frisky Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 Actually he is fairly accurate, though I wouldn't say completely. How much do you know about foetal development? Thank you Elswyth. Don't you love the nerve of some people who just come off like they are Pompous Primus yet take no risk by explain anything themselves. I'll say it again. Human beings are not products of creation, they are products of genetic compositing in which the gene sources are rarely perfectly matched and there are what are called "epigenetics" which are environmental issues (including testoserone in the mother's bodd and the temperature of the amniotic fluid which sometimes turn on or turn off a gene or genetic predisposition. A boy with "man boobs" looks very different than a boy who is carrying just a lot of extra flab in the breast area. A manboob guy will appear--especially at rest to have breast that will some day become functional as milk source for children where the nipple is conical whereas a flabby dude will have proportionate flab that will not tend to appear provide service to the nipple and the nipple will appear inconsequential. As for Mr Pompous Primus, I just made that science up except for the word epigenetics but I've seen enough man and boy boobs to make a likely accurate description. I'm not a doctor or cosmetic surgeon, just a former Cub Scouts, Boy Scout, Swim Teammate, and lifetime member of a club where there's a pool I use. I already know enough about anatomy a fetal gestation and gender assignment just by being smart and looking stuff up (before there even was a wIKIPEDIA) to render a decent stab at it without havin my sceince mockED.
EasyHeart Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 Dude. You just totally blew my image of you as a stud. Totally.Don't worry. I can make any outfit look damn good.
phineas Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 about 14% BF is where man-boobs come from on me. i'm about 13% right now so their mostly muscle. I carry fat almost universally on my body. Some guys have no fat on their chest but carry it on their waist or lower back or legs ect. So moobage is primarily excess bodyfat. Very rarely is it gyno. 1
pink_sugar Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 My husband has the opposite problem. He has body fat mostly in the gut and chest.
Star Gazer Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 Could be gynecomastia. Lots of men have it. It can be corrected. Gynecomastia (enlarged breasts in men) - MayoClinic.com Unfortunately, the corrections leave pretty severe scarring.
AH1990 Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 This. It didn't look like a bra but something was definitely pulling him in. Reminded me of what spanx does to women's butts. It does seem kind of odd how you could tell though. Usually if you wear compression shirts, they really 'play up' you physique quite a bit. Unfortunately, the corrections leave pretty severe scarring. Not entirely true. It all depends on the surgeon. If you get a really good cosmetic surgeon there won't be any scarring after a few months of healing. I'm tempted to get the surgery myself. But for the amount of gyno I have, it's not worth it. Plus I think I look pretty dam good with/without a shirt on. I'll just have to try and avoid dating girls like daphne in the future
johan Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 It seems like there is good material here for another "Three Men and A Baby" sequel. But this time the guys fight over who gets to breast feed the baby.
jadedone Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 Maybe he drinks/consumes a lot of soy. Soy has estrogen. There are plenty of cases of men that drinks lots of soy milk and end up getting manboobs.
phineas Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 I've always heard that women who swallow experience breast growth.

It wouldn't be the first time I've seen a guy that wasn't completely flat chested. It was the first time I thought almost girl sized boobs. Don't fix it if it isn't broken. It seems like there is good material here for another "Three Men and A Baby" sequel. But this time the guys fight over who gets to breast feed the baby. I bet you it'll beat the Avengers at the box office too.

Heart Of A Lion Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 Man boobs can also develop by drinking lots tap water. Believe it or not, but even countries with the most advanced water purification systems cannot filter estrogen out of dirty water. Unfortunately all tap water in all countries in the world contains estrogen.
