AkidAtHeart Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 Hi. Well, I lost my job a few years ago... But while working, I saved up about 100k... So, for me.. I was so MISERABLE at work I was about to just quit... I really was miserable cause I felt like work was keeping me from being the normal fun crazy person I used to be-- and if I'm dating.. I mean, I can't date and have a career.. I just can't. I turn boring. Then.. if I do date that girl I really was hoping for... I feel like, darn.. why couldn't I meet her before I had the career.. Then I would be more fun and crazy and she'd like me more. But now... I know I act in a way she doesn't like. It's happened. They see me as ... like, they know, I don't belong in that world with the accountants and corporate stiffies. But I'm miserable there, and have no choice. I'm really just a... guy who knows how to be with his girl and be "happy". But, work makes me unhappy. And that makes her.... unhappy too. So, I don't date.. and that's why, now... I have no job, and I'm feeling like.... I'm ready to date!!! The irony... I think... that is somehow connected to the fact women only like guys with jobs?? I can't quite make that connection yet tho....
dbave Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 End it all ... stop with the emo ... and either seek help or whatever ...

Author AkidAtHeart Posted May 11, 2012 Author Posted May 11, 2012 End it all ... stop with the emo ... and either seek help or whatever ... EMO? yuck. No thanks, I'm more of a Morrissey.
dasein Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 Surely there is some kind of work that would be lowkey and still make you happy, even part time or temping? There are lots of lowkey jobs checking in on elderly folks and related to aging in my area for example? Look into something like that? I'm with you man, saw a special on Bhutan on tv the other night and it made me want to pack my bags. There are also more women who are less materialistic in rural areas or small towns, maybe look somewhere like that.
louise_23 Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 what makes you happy? what do you enjoy? there is a career path youd enjoy out there im sure. you just have to find it. working, for most, is a necessity. find your passion. if youre happy in yourself youll be happy in a relationship. i was in a 6yr rship.and worked out.of.necessity in a job i hated. i felt like it made.me borong.and cranky. however, weve split up, after a year of working out what i want to do im training to be an english teacher. i now feel like i dont need a rship but if one.comes along, im a happier person and could.quite happily balance work.and personal.life. everybody likes.someone.with ambition. as a man, women want you to be the provider traditionally. youve saved all that.money, go retrain and do something you love. its worth the.financial.sacrifice.
ascendotum Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 The irony is right. You found it hard to date while working/focusing on your career, well dont be shocked if while you are now relaxed & de-stressed and ready for fun, women wont be. Well, they will be more amiable to you, because of your change in attitude, but in terms of a relationship, not working is not going to go down well, especially if you tell them what you just wrote here. Definitely start dating because it will help you pyschologically, but also start work on on getting another job, but in not such a pressure cooker postion/company. It sounds like you may be burnt out, and you really need the time off plus maybe you also need to see therapist/doc/naturopth, because you really don't want to keep that mindset of....relationship or career.

Well I am going to end up looking for something like... who knows, work at starbucks or something. But I don't know how I'll handle going from a "real" career making over 75k a year to filling out job applications along with some teenagers. What else, drug tests too?? I guess I need to downgrade, and I'm just ... not looking forward to it. But, in some way.. rich people annoyed me anyway.
Yookie Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 I agree with the above post. Definitely need a career change. Since you have some money for cushion you can even go back to school to make it happen if needed. This time study something that you actually enjoy!

Believing this is probably your entire problem. I think... that is somehow connected to the fact women only like guys with jobs?? Correction: mentally healthy women only like guys who believe they are active agents in their own existence.
ascendotum Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 OP - do you do any sort of exercise, because if you don't, I highly recommend you do take up something to help you handle the stress.

I been obsessively watching those shows on animals, deep sea creatures, whales, etc. The pacific. I need to be a bird... flying there .. total freedom. A sea gull... that's where I belong.
