FitChick Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 New York's On Speed Dating is for niche dating. If you want to meet tall men, for example, they measure every man who wants to participate. For their Skinny Minny nights, women must show their clothing labels for size. There are other events by profession, age, accent, education, etc. I don't have a problem with this although I'd never attend since I don't do speed dating.
january2011 Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 I've not experienced it myself, but nearly everything I've come across has said that the New York dating scene is particularly tough. I'm not suprised that they've started to segment the market.
Els Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 Damn, I know this isn't PC, but when I read stuff like this the first thing that enters my head is the visualization of olden-time slave markets where the slaves are measured and their teeth, eyes, and hair checked...
zengirl Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 It sounds WAY too nitpicky about the wrong things for my tastes. Besides that: Writing dress sizes down is silly. I have at least 3 different dress sizes in my closet that are identical in actual size and that's just the American ones. I imagine they have one where they take a pay stub too? 3
ScienceGal Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 I think it would be sad to miss out on meeting a potential match because they are one inch too short or one size to big from what you think you want. A lot of people fall in love with someone who they wouldn't have described as their ideal partner. 1
Author FitChick Posted May 11, 2012 Author Posted May 11, 2012 It sounds WAY too nitpicky about the wrong things for my tastes. That's why I posted it on LoveShack, their target market.
d'Arthez Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 If you think you know what you are looking for, you are clueless. 2
