Reddice Posted May 10, 2012 Posted May 10, 2012 I've been having the strangest kind of "dreams" the past couple of weeks. Not sure if I should call them dreams or sensations. The things is... Many nights, when I'm sleeping, I feel like I'm at my parent's house. Laying in my old bed, sleeping in my old room. Sometimes I could even swear I'd heard them talking in the kitchen. I lived in that house from my 15th till my 25th. I left their house about three years ago, the same time I met my ex. I have never had this sensation before, not even while I was studying abroad (I did so for a total of 1 year). Could it be that my subconscious is searching for a safe place to go to? Is this some kind of coping or defense mechanism? Does anyone know this feeling?
january2011 Posted May 10, 2012 Posted May 10, 2012 It could be that deep down you want to turn back the clock to a time and place before you knew your ex to 'save' yourself from the pain that you're going through. When your heart and mind settles, hopefully the dreams/senasations will also become less frequent.
Coffee20 Posted May 10, 2012 Posted May 10, 2012 I experienced the same feeling while I was studying abroad, when I had good times and felt well, I slept well too. But this feeling appeared when I was ill. I was dreaming about laying in my old bed at home and same as you I heard my brother and mother from the kitchen. Then I woke up and only my roommates were there. This feeling I always found weird.
