Single women live longer and are happier than married women, and married men live longer and are happier than single men. That's what I've read over the years whenever a similar topic comes up.

So, instead of living to 102 being mostly crippled, deaf, no teeth, and no longer in my right mind, I could get married and live to 107 being mostly crippled, deaf, no teeth and no longer in my right mind.

Cool. :)

This is one of those case by case instances of knowing yourself. If you are happier and healthier single or married, that's all that counts. All the "married/single live longer and are happier" stats are just manipulative marketing-based fodder to make a certain segment of people feel bad and buy products and services as self-medication for those feelings. Can disprove any particular statistic of that type handily by adding context, but why bother?

Those numbers are skewed by the large number of "single" men who die in their teens and twenties.

I believe the old saying:

Q: Why do husbands die younger than their wives?

A: Because they want to!!!

I don't know. My great grandmother who has been a widow for 13 years (then again my great grandfather died at age 97) is now 99 years old and still alive; so is her sister who is like 102 years old. Her mother (my great grandmother's mother that is) lived till she was 112 years old.

From my mother's side, it's like most of the married women lived a long time.

Yep, + prisoners/criminals, who tend to be male and less likely to be married, + military more likely male and unmarried, + 3x male suicide rate over female, + men taking dangerous isolated jobs less likely to be married, + higher male deaths from accidents and risk taking, which is another way of saying what you state above.
