indoubt Posted May 10, 2012 Posted May 10, 2012 Thanks for reading. I've been dating a guy for two months. He already tells me that I am the one for him, and tells me that he wants to marry me. But I am not sure if he is the right person for me. I am living in a foreign country, and he is foreign. I plan to move back to the States this summer, and I pretty much have to decide by then if the relationship has long-term potential or not. The fact that he is really serious about me, and that I am under time pressure puts a lot of pressure on me. It actually strains the relationship and makes me think I should just break up with him right away. But, we are only at the beginning stage and I don't have enough reason to just end it. What would you do if you were in my shoes?

In my opinion, two months is a very short amount of time and I'd be wary that someone is proposing marriage so soon. In addition, depending on the foreign country, I'd be concerned that my potential spouse is looking for a ticket to the US - but that's the cynic in me talking. I think your gut is telling you that you're not ready, so I'd stick with that. As you said, you're not even sure he is the right person for you. So all you can do is give it a bit more time. If he's not willing to wait then I'd wonder why he is in such a hurry to get married.
