A little help here...

I've never purchased my own anything... Especially not my own car! I recently decided that I wanted a Mitsubishi Eclipse & not my Altima anymore. I finally found a dealer on the internet (that is 6 hours away!) that had the Eclipse. It's perfect, all except for the fact that I know nothing about "financing" or "trading-in" or anything along those lines. I know my parents will help me with my questions, but they're currently gone on their anniversary vaca. I decided all this while they were gone. I'd like a little insight now. I don't work too often so I make about $300 a month. I could make a car payment around that price. The Eclipse I'm wanting is only $7,990. Is it possible to get my payments around $2 or $300? Can I buy even if I'm just 16, I want it to be in my name?! (I know my parents would sign if they needed to, though.) If the dealer accepts my Altima as a trade-in, then will that mean that I can have my Altima as a down payment? I could use any help! THNX!!!

I don't think you can legally sign a contract to buy a car at your age. I doubt anyone would finance a 16-year-old.

What's wrong with the car you have? Is it paid for?

Yes, it is paid for. There's nothing at all wrong with it, except that I want the Eclipse. Couldn't my parents sign?

I don't know. I wouldn't sign for my 16-year-old to get a car. It's a bad risk.
