....I'm Canadian but I watched Sunday's interview with Bill Clinton on 60 Minutes and would be very interested to hear what you guys think of his explanation of why he had an affair in the White House: "Because I could...."

Posted

Excuses excuse nothing. What he did was wrong. PERIOD. Anyone Could! That has nothing to do w/him being pres- it has to do w/ him being a cheater who provided a horrible role model for milllions. What a jerk!

Posted

One of the worst things that he did was to make oral sex seem like it isn't sex at all.

Terrible role model for teens. Now they all think that oral sex isn't really sex and that they don't realize that they can get all sorts of horrible sexually transmitted diseases from it.

Girls also think that it is no big deal to do it to guys. That it means nothing.

You are right, shame on him.

Unfortunately, many men in power think this way.

He held the highest job position you could possibly get in the United States, power like that is looked up upon by all. When Mr. Clinton saw all the attention and envy from these other women, how could he help himself? Hillary is a very attractive and interesting person herself, but when an intern half Hilary's age throws herself at him, it would be next to impossible not to take advantage of it.

It is wrong what he did. He is a married man and shouldn't have gone through with it. But like I said, when you're in the position he was in, it would be next to impossible not to take advantage of some situations.

As far as his explanation, he's alway been a smooth talker and negotiator, that's one of his gifts. Personally, I would vote for the first presidential canidate that walks up to the podeum and says, " I smoked dope, I drink everynight, I have cheated on my wife and she forgave me, I don't know what will happen in the next four years, but I will give it one hell of a shot". It'll never happen.

Great post Moose, I'm always interested in hearing a man's point of view! Very interesting how power played a factor in his affair(s).

If I could have voted for Clinton, I would have - he always came across as very human, down-to-earth and compassionate, despite his unfortunate problem with keeping that zipper zipped!!

Like my mom said... if Hilliary can live it it so can I.................

Moose said "how could he help himself?" Please. Any responsible, mature, REAL man could stop himself from getting a blow job in his office from a 22-year-old kid. I think many men before him were able to resist temptation. Even if he weren't married, even if he weren't president of the country, a powerful 50-year-old man should not be lifting up the skirt of an very young intern and getting her to suck him.

Plus, it's not like he didn't do this stuff before he was president. Remember Jennifer Flowers and Paula Jones. Ew!

Posted

Hold on, HOLD ON,........there aren't a lot of mature men out here....right????? :o My point is, Bill had security outside the door, no cameras, no tape recorder, a 100% chance of getting away with it, ( Except if she talks ), I don't think you'll find too many guys that wouldn't go for it.....I'm just being honest with you all.

If a 22 year old girl came in my office and offered, I wouldn't do it, not that I wouldn't get caught, I couldn't live with the guilt. That's just me. If Bill can live with himself, so be it. There are a ton of men who can cheat and not feel guilty at all.....not me...........any responsible, mature, REAL men knowing they wouldn't get caught and has no guilt...would not be able to resist the temptation, that is fact!!! And he's not lifiting up anybody's skirt, they were approaching him....let get that straight too.

I admire Bill for coming out and admitting his wrong doings.....very good.

If Bill is the ultimate MM, then is Monica the ultimate OW?

Used up, tossed aside and made a permament punchline.

Very good point!

I admire Bill for coming out and admitting his wrong doings.....very good.

NO WAY- He didn't admit his wrongs to be a bigger person. He did it to save face when he was totally busted! AFTER lying to his family, the American public, and everyone else around the world.

I watched the interview, no excuses were given.

His oral sex opinions (It depends on what your definition of the word 'is' is.) became a national joke, not a role model for children. If you blame him for teen oral sex, your'e scapegoating.

I liked how he clarified his marijuana inhaling statements. It's not that he didn't inhale, it was that he tried to, but couldn't.

Fayebell,

You're insulting Bill's intellegence here, of course he lied to his family and to the country......WTF??? Look at the position he was in!!! Do you really think that he would come out and admit it? I'm sick of people thinking that our countries leaders are to be held at a higher standard!!! Do you honestly think that there is anyone on earth worthy to have his butt kissed 24/7?? He's human, he got caught, so what???? What is the big deal about it anyway???? Sending a message to teen agers????? Sorry, but, it's not Bill's fault that the teen-agers are thinking oral sex is flat out sex.....it's the parents job to correct that!!!!

I mean, there are so many things that are out of the President's control that people can't believe this and can't believe that. Does the President have full control of our budget? Hell no!!! Can he single handedly improve today's economy? Hell no!!! Can he give every American free health care? It would be nice, but again, hell no!!! That would destroy the economy in a heart beat!!!!

I don't think he's admitting anything to be a bigger person either Fayebell, honestly, I think he wrote the book because he's a business man, he saw a plan and the opportunity, and he's just scandelous enough and interesting enough to do it. I guarentee you this book will earn him more money than his tenure as President.

Stop blaming my man Bill!!! Since he left office, comedy has plunged to an all time low, he was entertaining and fascinating, and no matter what people say, I'll continue to like the man.

Clinton was on Oprah today and got in depth about a lot of things in his book, most notably the Lewinsky thing. He did not make "excuses" for anything and recognizes that what he did was very wrong. But he did explain a lot of things though...big difference.

I don't excuse him for what he did. But I agreed when he said it should have been handled within the family, not in front of the whole country. I just don't think it's our business to get inside the personal lives of anybody, including the president. The whole thing was turned into a political agenda, which was just wrong. And I'm not even a Democrat! LOL!

Posted

Did anyone catch the article in yesterday's Washington Post? Apparently Bill's account of the timeline of his "inappropriate" relationship differs from his grand jury testimony. OOOOPS!!!

Clinton was effective in gathering reasonably competent people around him to specific tasks, and his band of bandits were mainly associated with the small-time cronyism -- things that, while illegal and improper, could generally be forgiven.

But make no mistake about it: Clinton was a serial adulterer and a pathological liar. He should have at least had the decency to go to some strip club and gotten his knob slobbed there instead of inside the White House.

Interesting patterns emerge when you look at Clinton's adventures. It seems that in nearly every case - from Lewinsky to Paula Jones - he has found women who were incredibly naive or just plain stupid. It seems like he picks out certain women who have a debased sense of self.

Posted

Provide evidence that these women were naive and stupid. I thought the paradigm was unattractiveness.

Define unattractive.

Evidence? It's just a gut feeling, Dyer. ;)

Amerikajin, your statement about Bill Clinton being a 'serial adulterer' really hits home, this being the OW/OM forum and all. I guess Moose already sort of explained it but it's so fascinating that a powerful man holding the highest office in his country would take such chances......

Are 'serial adulterers' so out-of-control that they really can't control the impulse to f**k someone other than their wife any time the opportunity presents itself?

I'm involved with a serial adulterer myself. He told me that in the past, whenever he went out with his buddies his goal was to go home with a different girl every single night!!!!!

Bill was already caught with Gennifer Flowers (I'm pretty sure she spells it with a 'G' instead of a 'J') and Paula Jones, I'm amazed that he would actually do it again - in the Oval Office yet! Did they actually have sex in the Oval Office? I'm not sure.

Posted

kiababy, I don't think that even, "Serial Adulterers", would take advantage of every opportunity, not saying that they are more careful, just saying that Bill had more going for him to not get caught. Plus, there's what I like to call the, "Bored Money Syndrome". Imagine if you had all the money you possibly would need and you've done everything and been everywhere......wouldn't you get bored? Wouldn't you be seeking out some form of entertainment?

The guy that you're going out with right now, with his goal of going home with a different girl every night, was he married at the time? I know that when I was single running around with the guys, that would be a goal of ours too.....we were young and having fun...but I didn't see it as being an adulterer.

You fascination with this has me wondering how surprised you would be if you knew everything that goes on in the White House......., I'm sure I'd even be surprised. Just keep in mind, these people so high up on a pedestal are just like you and me. I love Hillary a lot!!!!! She's smart, Funny and attractive....Bill is a lucky man, but who's to say that maybe she gets off that her husband has extra-marital affairs? There are a lot of men out there who get off on watching their wives with other men.......gross and wrong......but true.

I think Bill took more chances because the opportunity and temptation with a guarentee that noone was going to walk passed his security gave him all the ingredients for a nice little treat....he took it.

Moose, my 'serial adulterer' was definitely married at the time he was going home with someone different every night. He married his highschool sweetheart and told me that he has cheated on her the entire time he's been with her.

It's the usual excuse: she doesn't enjoy sex with him. I haven't really gone into it on this forum but he was her first, and I think maybe she resents what he took from her?

Also....he's kind of um.....large. Not freakishly so but just shy of that. She asked him if he would consider having a 'reduction', and he was hurt and furious but they still have sex and he told me it doesn't make him love her any less. We are very honest and open with each other. I see other people and he knows about it.

When we have sex I definitely feel like he's getting SOMETHING out of his system......anger, resentment? He plays very, very rough (he doesn't hurt me but he is definitely dominant)- but is incredibly tender before and right after. And he says my name constantly all throughout so I feel like he's 'present' and in the moment with me, know what I mean?

So, back to Bill and Hilary. She is a strong woman, no question. My impression was that Bill just wanted to have women he could dominate. Giving a man oral can be a very submissive act.

I think our country's leaders should Provide a higher standard.

Yes they should be, I guess what I meant was, that most people think that our leaders aren't allowed to make mistakes...that they are some kind of super being and damn them to hell if they screw up. It's not that way.....we are all human...leave the poor guys alone, they have a lot going on.......

Posted

You're right they do. I guess I'd like to think people in such positions would devote more time to the state of our nation than to all the crap that goes w/an affair. How much time did he waste during and after that could have been spent performing the job he was elected to do? With great power comes great responsibility. He did a lot in office (no pun intended :D ) but imagine how much more he could have accompished if he didn't become entangled in a web of deception like this. I refuse to see him as an icon b/c he FINALLY came clean. And I'll be damned if I'll let him continue his ego tour in my world now that his presidancy is over. I won't read his book and I'm not listening to the propaganda surounding it. There is no poor Bill Clinton in my world-only a leader who failed us all.

Posted

The people who work in Congress and in the White House are the ultimate alpha males. Their whole lives revolve around power and its intoxicating effects. I think extra marital affairs are more about challenge and conquest. It's like a kid in the toy store saying "I want that toy, and I'm somehow gonna talk momma into giving me what I want."

Posted

Honestly, i think that Bill Clinton chose to abuse his power in the office, setting an awful precedence about what is and isn't "sex". Irregardless to if children, teenagers, liked that man, they all know of this predicament that he was in, and now as a leader, and resorted to saying that "oral sex isn't real sex -- even the president says so". He lied under oath about it, which in and of itself is another entire case, and yet, because of his power, he has gotten away with adultery that will stain the american image as well as it has set a standard of oral sex being okay, just like kissing....but just so everyone is well aware, it is said that oral sex for a male is even more powerful than intercourse, so great our middle schoolers are experiecing "not real sex" now...

i am not trying to slam our past leaders, but I don't really regard clinton as a leader...just a name behind a title...

Posted

Bubba was hardly the first sitting President or politician to commit adultery. Hell, the very people who were trying to throw him out of office were also adulterers.

Bob Livingston? Adulterer.

Newt Gingrich? Adulterer.

Dan Burton? Adulterer.

Henry Hyde? Adulterer.

Can you say "hypocrites"? ROFLMAO!!!!:laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:
