zengirl Posted May 5, 2012 Posted May 5, 2012 Oh, I lived in a sweltering hot tropical country for several years, and I hated shaving the MOST there. Because, well, I know this sounds disgusting, but hair is there to ease friction and absorb sweat. When hair is removed, sweat literally drips down the side of your arm, and when sticky with sweat, your arm chafes painfully against your body. Shaving is okay in temperate countries. Really? I don't actually sweat to that degree (I can hardly remember seeing a droplet of sweat on myself in my life, despite living in some hot, humid places). I think it's the half-Japanese side. A lot of Japanese people seem to not sweat much. I know there is something to East Asian genetics, or maybe just mine, I don't know. That does sound uncomfortable, though! I've never seen a close up of armpit sweat, so I honestly had no idea that could happen. I assume it's itchy to grow armpit hair out, too. I'm not sure how long it's itchy for though. I find it very uncomfortable to have stubble --- as I assume everyone does --- so the armpits are the first thing shaved, at least once per day. My body hair is fairly fine, so if I leave my legs a day or two, I'm honestly not concerned.
Els Posted May 5, 2012 Posted May 5, 2012 Well, I guess it depends on HOW hot and humid we're talking about. Summer is not usually hot and humid enough in most places to produce that effect - dry heat doesn't make one sweat much. Back where I used to live, you could get your entire back wet with sweat just from crossing the street.
Els Posted May 5, 2012 Posted May 5, 2012 Can't say I'm surprised by what you wrote Yes, yes, I know.

The heat where I currently live is a bit worse, since there's no ocean breeze. A lot worse sometimes actually, since it's not as humid at times. I've spent summers in equatorial countries and on tropical islands (not that all are the same). I can't stand a dry heat and have rarely been in desert heat; I feel like I'm turning to dust or something. I think I'm just an aberration; in a humid climate, I typically feel better, and I rarely notice the humidity even when people complain about it.
xxoo Posted May 5, 2012 Posted May 5, 2012 At any rate, I hang with some hippies who don't care if they're hairy. Not a one of them is single fwiw. I'm not surprised. If they were having trouble getting (or keeping) a partner, they could always shave, but it doesn't seem to be an issue among those who choose not to shave. Not coincidentally, I'm super attracted to men who like hairy women . I love a man who is so attracted to a woman that he doesn't need her to go through all the beauty maintenance--he just wants all of her. Animalistic need--yes, please! 2
Disenchantedly Yours Posted May 5, 2012 Posted May 5, 2012 I think armpit hair is gross in general. I wish men would shave theirs too. I don't mind hair legs or a hairy chest..but the armpit hair is like backhair to me...
Imported Posted May 5, 2012 Posted May 5, 2012 I think armpit hair is gross in general. I wish men would shave theirs too. I don't mind hair legs or a hairy chest..but the armpit hair is like backhair to me... I don't shave clean, but I do trim everything down a lot. No bush under my arms or down there. Chest and back, naturally hairless. Arms and legs, light hair all over, but no where near a hairsuit. I am on the fence about agreeing with the hairy girl that 10/11 year old kids should not get Brazilian wax done. Although at that age (from what they said), it ensures that they never have to worry about it again. You might think that is sick and to some point I agree...little girls should be little girls and not concern themselves with such things. However, infant boys get circumsized for no other reason than aesthetics and religion for a few. I myself was not circumsized as an infant. Here in America, that can be bad because most women are not use to seeing an uncircumsized penis. I choose to have it done later as an adult. It was not fun, but worth it. I wish my dad/mom would have had it done when I was an infant. It would have saved a tremendous amount of problems.

Your story just confirms that people are conforming way too much to what the media or society wants them to be. 1
firehawk_1 Posted May 5, 2012 Posted May 5, 2012 HELL NO. totally unattractive and not sexy. totally off putting. remember women, you always go on and on about how you must look good and guys must be hot/sexy...blah blah but you are unrealistic. seriously, are you freakin kidding me? if a guy has so much hair, you put him down for it...hypocrite *rolls eyes*

Infact boys getting circumsized is a totally different topic then 10/11 year old girls getting brazliam waxes so that they are hairless. There are lots of things done to babies after they are born to ensure health. Shots, tests...all kinds of things. The psychology behind 10/11 year old girls is a completely different can of beans. i also hate arguments that are peppered on the back of "well this happens to boys/girls so this should/is okay if this happens to the other gender." That's just so wrong. Girls getting B.waxes has nothing to do with boys and being circumsized. And this really shouldn't be a tit for tat situation. It is extremely disturbing that you could be on the fence about little girls getting their puberty hair removed. This is why women are forever trying to stay young. Because society shames us for anything that signifies age.
