nat_nat Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 Article: Emer O'Toole on This Morning: Can it EVER be socially acceptable to have hairy armpits? | Mail Online I'm just wondering what everyone's thoughts about this are? Men, would this be a complete and utter turn off? Ladies, would you be prepared to stop removing your hair? I personally feel much better without any hair, but I suppose if it had been socially acceptable the whole time I was growing up to be hairy, that would just be the norm. When I was single and it was the winter months, I would not bother shaving my legs at all till it was really necessary as I knew they would be hidden! So I guess I do it to be socially accepted more than anything else. Would be much easier if we didn't have to bother!
Ross MwcFan Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 Yes, although I'm not keen on hair, she's still really hot.
NeverDated Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 Ladies, would you be prepared to stop removing your hair? Oh no. Not a chance. Some portion of my genetic soup "blessed" me with very thick, course black body hair. If I don't remove it every third day at least, I feel like a great ape.

NeverDated Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 Just watched that video in the article. Anyone else find it odd that she's opposed to hair removal, yet has no upper-lip hair and perfectly groomed eyebrows?
jobaba Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 Just watched that video in the article. Anyone else find it odd that she's opposed to hair removal, yet has no upper-lip hair and perfectly groomed eyebrows? I suggest people listen to the clip. The message is good...
maybealone Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 Anyone else find it odd that she's opposed to hair removal, yet has no upper-lip hair and perfectly groomed eyebrows? I found that odd as well. I didn't watch the video, but I wonder if she says anything about men. I wonder if she likes them with really long beards.
matte123 Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 The hairy girl looks cute and fun to be around so yes I would date her if I were gay. I do not shave nor would I shave my hair just because a guy finds it a turn off. I guess I don't care about being accepted socially in this aspect but I do not judge those who do remove their hair. It's your body so do what you want to it.
ASG Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 Just watched that video in the article. Anyone else find it odd that she's opposed to hair removal, yet has no upper-lip hair and perfectly groomed eyebrows? I've never done anything to my upper lip and there is no visible hair there. Also, I've only started plucking my eyebrows a few years ago and before they weren't exactly what you'd call out of control... Also, she's wearing a full face of make up and that hides the hair pretty well as well, not to mention the fact that none of the photos are particular high quality. Sometimes I don't wax for months... I just can't be bothered. I have been blessed with very little hair, so even if I haven't waxed my armpits for 2 months, I still only have a few hairs, that would be barely noticeable at a distance. Same with my legs. They are really fine and light so you'd have to be standing really close to notice them.
Ursa Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 She's too young for me and I'm not dating anymore...but in theory, yes. I do shave my unwanted body hair, but I have some mixed feelings about it. I personally like feeling smooth, but there are times when it's just too much of a PITA and I'm too busy, I hate the bother. I went to college with a lot of hippies so girls embracing their natural hair/body isn't weird to me, I think she has a good point about how weird some of the cultural expectations of beauty are, and I admire her confidence and her resolution--I find those qualities sexier than hairlessness, overall.
xxoo Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 Ladies, would you be prepared to stop removing your hair? BTDT I wonder if she wears a bikini to the beach. I did. I went to college with a lot of hippies so girls embracing their natural hair/body isn't weird to me Did we go together? FWIW, I do shave now....at least in the warmer months. My H honestly couldn't care less if I shave or not, but I've lost the "spirit" to go hairy around the general public. In my 20s, however.....I'll just say that I was more brazen.
Imported Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 No, absolutely not. There is expectations of everyone, men and women, for how to present yourself. There are plenty of attractive women, she is nothing special physically and her "rebelling" against "conforming" to pressure is already a sign to me that we don't see eye to eye on some basic things. Some things are just a non-issue, unless you nit-pick at it and make believe it is some form of evil when in fact it is nothing.
xxoo Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 her "rebelling" against "conforming" to pressure is already a sign to me that we don't see eye to eye on some basic things. Good point! For my H, it was a sign that we did see eye to eye on some basic things. Like a hairy mating call 2

Eclypse Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 Her face is kinda cute which is a bummer because I'm definitely not attracted by all that hair. You can call it a construct of society or whatever, but it's still not attractive to me. My gf doesn't shave a whole lot either, but she barely has any hair at all. The hairless look is much more feminine and really is a part of the attractiveness level of a woman. In addition, although the video link didn't work for me but based on her text this girl sounds like one of those overly opinionated, in-your-face, liberal artsy types that I just can't stand. I really can't get along with most of those and we would probably clash on almost everything. I'm pretty anti establishment myself and I definitely hate it when the "man" tries to bring you down and make you just one more cog in the machine that is society today but even I have my limits 1
Eternal Sunshine Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 Ugh. When I see women with unshaven legs I feel ill. I remove any trace of hair on legs/armpits every few days (yes, I am obsessive about it - I can't stand even a little bit, or even light colored hair). I also do it regardless if I am single or in a relationship and regardless if it's summer or not. I feel like s%$@ about myself otherwise. 1
ohmygoshistalk Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 ive never grown my hairs that long i dont think it can grow that long i was thinking the hairs look kinda fake. anyway i was wondering if it smells if its long? 1
FitChick Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 I don't like seeing anyone's damp, sweaty, hairy armpits. Men should shave or at least use the same clippers on their pits as they do their crotch. 1
Teal Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 Ehh... I do think that it's simply messy and unhygienic for most to not concern themselves with basic grooming and maintenance of body hair, and that there is a certain appearance that's more feminine. Otherwise, I'm inclined to agree; these things can get pretty obsessive and border on damaging. The last thing the world needs is more focus on the superficial.
Ross MwcFan Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 Just watched that video in the article. Anyone else find it odd that she's opposed to hair removal, yet has no upper-lip hair and perfectly groomed eyebrows? Yeah, why does she even get her hair (on her head) cut? Or even wear make up, if she thinks that confidence should come from within and not how you look.
Stupid Girl Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 Anyone else find it odd that she's opposed to hair removal, yet has no upper-lip hair and perfectly groomed eyebrows? Errrr what? Upper lip hair is not exactly common among white females... She's gorgeous though, hair or no, and I completely agree with the sentiment she expressed in the video.
dasein Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 No, lots of body hair on a woman is a turnoff for me, wouldn't date her. No need to shave bush though, I like that, trim is fine there. Also, I govern my degree of hairiness based on the woman I'm dating and though have always had light leg and arm hair, so wouldn't shave those, would gladly trim pits and crotch if she preferred it, and have.
Ross MwcFan Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 Julia Roberts is one ugly broad. I don't understand how she can be classed as so attractive by so many people. I can't see it, she genuinely looks very unattractive to me. 1
