NeverDated Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 I never understood that either. Why get married if you're just gonna ask for other men's attention? Ugh. Stupid people. Because there is a lot of insecurity in being a mother. You start to question if your looks are still good enough. It's nice on a psychological level to know that other men are still interested. There's also some reinforcement there that you aren't "letting yourself go" so you don't need to worry that your husband will cheat because he has an unattractive wife. Kind of like women who keep their careers because they don't want to be dependent. It's a way of reinforcing to ourselves that we're not trapped, and our men are more likely to stay in line, because we have other options.
carhill Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 A phrase I coined in MC was 'liking the security of being married and the freedom of being single' If such is synergistic within the partnership then it is healthy for that partnership.
