DuchessKaye
What is the general definition of the term 'clingy'? ( I know I can find it on webster) But I'd like to know what is too clingy and not too clingy from each of you. I don't know, but if a person bugs me, texts me, checks me out, calls me every hour and I'm into him, I don't feel like he is being clingy. But if a person calls me once a day and texts me every 4 hours and I'm NOT into them, I usually ask them "Why are you too clingy?!!!". LOL!
sal110104
Very true - If I like a guy - I wouldnt care if I heard from him every hour! But if I dont like the guy - even one text can make me go "ugh" That doesnt help in the reverse though - to know if the guy I am texting is happy to hear from me - or is going "ugh" I try to follow his lead - the last thing I want to be thought of is "clingy"
mesmerized
You girls must be either too young or just not have a life. No matter if I'm into a guy or not, calling/texting me every hour is too much!
sal110104
Well I did exagerate a bit - every hour would be too much - I think we are trying to make a point that if you are into someone they can get away with a lot more communication than if you arent into them
SJC2008
I think it's a mean way to say you didn't like that person. If dream boat or hot girl texts you once a day it's fine but if you don't like him/her. Now for me a major turn off is when you just meet a woman for a date and she text's you both days afterward without me initiating. I like it when a woman initiates contact but still let's the man take the lead.
mixwell
Clingy means basically someone depending on you to make them feel better, someone who is dependent on you to make them happier to get through the day. If you're out with friends or solo doing your own thing and a guy or vice versa keeps txting or calling you it means they feel the need to communicate with you to get through the day or to validate your interest in them. Clingy should be more of a physical observation rather than a definition. You should understand the concept of clingy when it happens. It's basically showing way to must interest in someone to the point where you feel like "leave me alone for a bit"
Itsonlyme66
Yes. if I like him? I want to hear from him all day long. If I don't? even a text a day is an annoyance. You are clingy to a man if the man "just isn't that into you." and I too agree to follow their lead. It's a push-pull dynamic.

I agree with what you in the concept that if you're into him/her you would like to hear from them but if you think they're the hottest person on Earth that would grow old quick if they're txting you 5 times a day.. I really believe it's only a short difference in clingy with liking and accepting and not liking in the fact that an ugly **** might be clingy with 1 txt a day vs a hot chick 5 txts a day but if it keeps going on I'd think very shortly with the hot person you'd still feel the same and BECAUSE of that the interest would wear off quite rapidly but I totally understand being more accepting of txts, calls with someone you like but even that can have it's breaking point.. Author DuchessKaye
So how clingy is too clingy if talking every 1 hour isn't too much regardless of how much you like him/her or not?
mixwell
So how clingy is too clingy if talking every 1 hour isn't too much regardless of how much you like him/her or not? Well um if you talk every one hour and don't it clingy then your interest level is probably high compared to someone you aren't into. Eventually that talking every one hour will fade rapidly once you've been around that person long enough. With someone you find more attractive you will have a higher tolerance of what's considered clingy compared to someone you're not attracted too. Bottom line is you will understand clingy if/when you get to the point where you think "leave me the fk alone for a minute"
mixwell
Okay below is an definition by urban dictionary of clingy.. Clingy 1528 up, 570 down A boyfriend/girlfriend or possibly someone who likes you who becomes let's say, obssesed. Signs that your boyfriend/girlfriend is clingy: doesn't stop calling, constantly tells you how much they love/like you, writes you songs, buys you flowers/chocolate so much it gets annoying, and wants to spend time..all the time. For serious cases they may begin talking about moving in, or marrige after only a month! She has her opinions and has the right to say what she thinks. In case you’re wondering, she's a kid! She's only 6 years old! And she typed every single word up there to speak her mind! Someone tell me now if she is stupid! LOL... JK
mixwell
You mixed it well, Mixwell Thanks you for that very useful information Ahh I like your word play on my username If someone is txting you too much they're clingy, there is no certain number of calls txts.. if it's someone you don't like they will appear clingy sooner than someone you like but someone you like can be clingy at times and the attraction can wear off fast if they contact you too much because they become just as clingy as the person you don't like. Author DuchessKaye
This is it! It's clinginess... When someone smothers you to the extent you feel you can't breath. When they need to be around you 24/7. When they always have to know where you are, what you're doing, who you're talking to. When they're attached to your hip, etc. Haha! Just typing that makes me have a panic attack and want to run for the hills, lol.
