MichMoor Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 Hi, I seperated from my wife nearly 2 years ago and would like her out of my life the easiest and quickest way! She has screwed me with finances . Tho not bothered. I have been told after 2 years the process is relatively easy providing neither party contests and she has said she is willing to admit adultery (hard for her not too though!). As I said I just want her out of my life now, can anyone advise best way? I have not got money for a Solicitor. Am based in UK. Thanks in advance
tears_in_rain Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 Hey MichMoor I'm UK based too and am going through some similar sh*t. If you have been living separately for two years you can divorce with consent from your wife or go the adultery route if she agrees to sign admitting it. I've got to confront the wife / adulterous beep still so not sure about her admitting yet. Got evidence it's just if she'll crack. Get a clean break consent order too to ensure a complete financial break from her. You know in case you win the lottery or she's entitled to a slice. Like me you have no kids so technically it should be relatively smooth unless she decides to contest the divorce. There are loads of quickie divorce sites offering cheaper divorces than the solicitor route. Google it and you'll get loads of options. Not sure which is best yet as I've only started delving but maybe spend that bit extra and go for a managed divorce option. They fill in the paperwork in legal terms to avoid potential problems instead of you going through loads of headscratching and wondering which of the numerous forms to fill in. Hope this is a start and keep posting mate. We're here for you. P.S I'm seeing a solicitor on Wednesday re : divorce for adultery I'll let you know what's the score on that. If you have any questions you want answered let me know and i'll try to slip them in at my meeting. Flippin' expensive those solicitors. £200 inc VAT for an hour initial consultation. Hopefully the best £200 I'll ever spend. I intend to go the quicky-divorce route too as cash isn't flowing like a river either.
Author MichMoor Posted April 30, 2012 Author Posted April 30, 2012 Thanks for above tears, especially for clean break order, she is not the slightest bit bothered about adultery and is willing to sign it, only thing is if I use adultery I have to pay for it! What I am most concerned about is although I am technically virtually bankrupt now a relative is about to get a windfall from a relative passing and has said both myself and brothers and sisters can share it, obviously I do not want her to get any of it hence why I want divorce to be quick, even if I pay for it. If anyone has ideas on the best way to go about this would be gratefull, thanks.
tears_in_rain Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 Sorry to say most uncontested divorces even the so called quickie divorce will take 4 - 6 months. If you're due a windfall and want to keep it out of the wife's hands maybe you could arrange that one of your relatives (that you trust implicitly) keep hold of your portion. Some of the DIY packages range from £17 to £200 Bear in mind the obligatory court fees £340 - £390 Also the consent order fee. Some packages include this in the cost. If you want the divorce you'll have to pay for it unfortunately. Could you split costs between you and the wife ?
Author MichMoor Posted May 1, 2012 Author Posted May 1, 2012 I do have a relative who I can put it into a account in their name till its done and yes can ask her to pay half but she is just as broke as me really but she could pay it in dribs and drabs.
