Author Eternal Sunshine Posted April 28, 2012 Author Posted April 28, 2012 I hate vanilla scented anything as well... Unfortunately, I don't know the names of any perfumes, so I couldn't recommend any. I'll go to the store with you though to pick one out...only if you do the same for me. Hokie, I would be totally up for that!
USMCHokie Posted April 28, 2012 Posted April 28, 2012 Hokie, I would be totally up for that! Awesome! But Pyro isn't invited. 1
Pyro Posted April 28, 2012 Posted April 28, 2012 Awesome! But Pyro isn't invited. pfft you have no worries there. I will only take you up on the Vegas offer.
phineas Posted April 28, 2012 Posted April 28, 2012 (edited) Fascinating! Almost every "expert" says vanilla is one of the top notes of a perfume for seducing a man! My current fave is Jennifer Aniston's fragrance... My only complaint is it doesn't last long - seriously, less than an hour. That is Bacon. Also coco-butter makes me gag along with vanilla I like hyacinth, or citrisie scents but only when they are used marginally. I should have to get close to smell it not have to open my windows & air out the house when she leaves. Edited April 28, 2012 by phineas 1
FitChick Posted April 28, 2012 Posted April 28, 2012 Like most things, everyone has their preferences. I'd suggest going to a department store and sampling. Wear short sleeves and spritz a different one on the inside of each elbow. If you put it on the wrist, you are likely to wash most of it off when you wash your hands. Wait an hour for it to mix with your chemistry and sniff again. I generally only like one out of ten. Do this on different days and then pick two favorites and ask for sample vials. Then live with them, wear them on dates, ask men which they prefer. It's a sneaky way to get a man to come physically closer to you. If a man you are dating really likes one particular fragrance on you, you can drop a hint at how disappointed you are that your sample is almost gone, you like it soooo much... 2

Star Gazer Posted April 28, 2012 Posted April 28, 2012 Marc Jacobs - Lola Sweet! I have that! (And I bought it JUST for the bottle, it matched my decor! )
fun4life Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 We all have times that we meet someone and you remember something about them and one thing I will never forget about this one girl I met was her soft skin and the beautiful scent she wore. It was Gucci Flora something she made even better and will never forget.. 1

Mme. Chaucer Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 Thundra by Profumum. I'm not a guy, but it's definitely sexy. I have an obsession with fragrances. What do you like? Maybe I can give you some good suggestions to try.
Disenchantedly Yours Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 I wear Yves Saint Laurent Opium. It's my fav. But I have a lot of different scents I play with. Some from Victoria Secrets and other's from Bananna Republic. One called Lilac from Bath and Body works that I like alot too.
LondonBridges Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 I love citrus scents, particularly grapefruit. Bath and Body Works makes (correction: made) a fabulous one that you can still find on eBay. "Pink Grapefruit" - It's the perfume and not the body spray. Smells divine. As for vanilla, well I love it and have been wearing it for years... I've had MANY compliments from men about how good I smell. Vanilla is tricky though because you don't want a scent that's too sweet or too vanilla, and frankly most of them are. I hate the Bath and Body Works scents, for example. The only one I wear: Vanilla Lace from Victoria's Secret. The body spray - mmm so good. I actually combine it with the pink grapefruit and it's wonderful!
MrNate 2.0 Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 I'm seeing a lot of victoria secret wearers in here. This is good.
Radu Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 I used to love the smell of musky perfumes. I see it more as something you show to the world, not as something to constantly use to entice someone ... for that i'd much rather smell/lick/taste the girl's skin. Good quality perfumes are awesome, over here even 'good' perfumes only last a few hs because they are contraband.
El Brujo Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 (edited) I don't like the smells of vanilla or anything musky. I like the smell of sandalwood... but anything with faint ylang-ylang in it is my favorite. Nothing says "feminine" like ylang-ylang oil. My mother's favorite perfume was something called Emeraude, but I don't remember what it smelled like. My 1st date, in 1987, wore some stuff that made her smell like notebook paper. One Christmas, 5 different people gave my granny bottles of perfume. "Maybe they're trying to tell me that I stink," she said in her Wicked Witch of the West voice. Two scents that don't turn me on are alcohol and cigarette smoke... but for whatever reason, some in the over-50 crowd seem to think those are madly erotic. BTW some guy in a department store once tried to sell me a bottle of Aramis... I thought the stuff smelled like marijuana! Edited April 30, 2012 by El Brujo
