The woman can be seen as dirty, unclean, damaged goods, used up, loose and without morals. I would tell a guy I wanted a relationship with my number but only if I felt he was mature enough to accept it and not throw it around when we had an argument...ps my numbers not high! I think the woman feels some level of shame about it. Women also keep up that stigma too. In some ways women are harder on it than men are.
