Has anyone tried "social networking" websites? How did you like it (them)? How are they different from

conventional online dating sites?

I haven't tried neither the social networking sites, or the conventional dating sites, but social networking sounds pretty good. If you're connected through friends of friends, family, or aquaintances, it seems like you'd be more likely to be interested in the same things than someone you randomly meet off a conventional dating site. I can't really help you with this, but social networking sounds pretty cool.

I havent tried any, but my friend did that friendster thing (i think that is the one it was) He didn't like it because your friends have to be signed up for it too. Since none of his friends were it was of 0 use to him. Even if 1 or 2 of your friends were, then some of their friends and their friends friends and so on all need to be signed up as well.

While a social networking site allows more of a casual chat, and the fact that you somehow are connected to this person through other people, a dating site does not do any of that. But...a dating site allows you to talk to whoever, not just friends of friends so a dating site has alot more people to talk to, from how I understand the social networking sites.

Also...if you are looking for a date, a dating site would probably be better because that is the idea of the site. Sure some people just go on there to go on there, but there are people legitimately looking to meet someone.
