SilverBlueAndGold Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 Hi all, I am recently back in the dating scene and have my first tonight (go me!) My past relationships have all been long term so I am not all that experienced with dating. I am meeting a woman tonight for our first and I am curious about how to act when we say goodbye. So I would like to know from the women mainly: after a first date with a guy that you like (yea I am aiming high would you prefer they just say goodnight and walk away, shake hands, quick hug, peck on the cheek.... None of the above?
january2011 Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 Quick hug and maybe peck on the cheek. Nothing at all would feel strange. A handshake would be too formal. 1

I also think a handshake would be too formal, but I don't want her to think I am a pig either. Don't get me wrong, I am a huggy kind of guy but only with people I know.
blindesided Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 Umm probably no hand shake - that would be weird to me. Maybe a hug or a kiss on the cheek with a warm smile - You will just have to feel her out. I am new on the dating scene too so I am just telling you what I would want. I know the end of the night can be kind of akward - I am sure she is feeling the same way too - good luck - keep us posted
persevere Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 Nothing more than a hug. If you kiss/make out, it can throw things off. Resist the urge to do that.

KathyM Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 I would suggest a nice gentle hug and a tender kiss on the lips. Not too much, not too little.
sid3 Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 Yeah the handshake would be the kiss of death. If you feel its appropriate a hug. If she really wowed me I'd probably whisper something in her ear.
PhillyDude Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 Try and confirmed that you want you to see her again before the date is over. don't make the mistake I made and end the date and then come home and try to analyze what signs you thought were good 1
Author SilverBlueAndGold Posted April 27, 2012 Author Posted April 27, 2012 Well, she made it easy. When we met she came right up and hugged me. Was a pretty good date too, we are going to see each other again. And since she already broke the ice at the beginning I got a better hug at the end. Thanks for the tips everyone! 1

Females are known for showing "COMMON COURTESY" until the date is over. Only one sure way to tell is if yall speak on the phone before the night is over
