Author DuchessKaye Posted April 26, 2012 Author Posted April 26, 2012 Its stupid that the OP pins her past relationship as a reason for her current preference. So because she had a bad experience with one or a few asian men, she uses this as reasoning for liking white guys a lot? How silly and immature is that. I dont buy it anyways because she know she wouldnt stop dating white guys and end up only dating black or latino men if she had bad experiences with white dudes. So why pull a punch? Why be disingenuous? Simply give the real reason for liking white men without pinning a part of it on another group of men. Groups of people are diverse and I find it super hard to believe someone is that silly to think one person represents an entire group...then again..who am I kidding. Just be honest and say your preference has to do with putting white men on a pedestal above others. Dont scapegoat asian me though. It only happened that after I have had a rough relationship with an Asian guy, I'm not feeling attracted to them anymore. If that is silly and stupid, I'm sorry but that's me. I'm not saying they are not fabulous or whatsoever cause of course I know we have different taste. What is attractive to me may not be attractive to some of you and what is attractive to some of you may not be attractive to me.
jobaba Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 Lol so there is a chance I did read somewhere on this board that black females and Asian males get the short end of the stick when it comes to dating so I feel equally bad for you. Lol If being an Asian man was my only problem, then I'd probably be bitching and moaning too. Fortunately for me, I have a bevy of problems that prevents me from getting women, and being Asian is just buried in the list somewhere. I will say though, I respect the fact that black women LOVE their black men. I've worked with many black women and they are always talking about which black guys are hot: actors, NFL, NBA.
SmileFace Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 Eh, I barely date inside my race let alone my culture/back ground so I may not be one of the black females you are referring to. However the country I am from is multiracial.
FrustratedStandards Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 I'm attracted to Caucasians and the occasional light cinnamon latino In terms of culture, definitely European. 1
jobaba Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 Well it's better than someone not telling you outright no Asian dudes and making you think you actually have a chance... Lloyd Christmas: What do you think the chances of a girl like you and a guy like me... ending up together? Mary Swanson: Not good... Lloyd: You mean, not good like one out of a hundred...? Mary: I'd say more like...one out of a million... Lloyd: So you're telling me there's a chance. Yea! I really liked a white woman not long ago and she rejected me. I figured it might have been because I was Asian but not necessarily. It could have been for a number of reasons. Next time I figure I'll just ask early on if she dates or likes Asian guys. If she says no or is non-committal, I'll take that as a no.

AKollegeGuy Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 I'm not picky (Mostly because I'm single & still have my V-card *ugh*) I mean I don't really think that a woman's ethnicity is the deciding factor, but I've had strong feelings to Asian and Asian-American women and African and African-women. Might be the whole 'exotic' thing' (I'm white myself). But I have noticed many white women that are hot too. (I currently live on a college campus so I get exposed to a lot of different women). Too many choices, so little time. 1

Hmmm...here's the ancilliary effect of my "theory" which you illustrate here which I found prevalent while I was in college...I will break it down Barney-style... (1) Asian women want status + white dudes give status = Asian women want only white dudes. (2) Asian women want only white dudes + white dudes want women with the least effort = White dudes want Asian women. Bottom line: White dudes want it easy, and they can get it easy.
Star Gazer Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 I've been sitting here thinking about this question. I have never really thought of attraction in terms of ethnicity. I am attracted to attractive people... and there are attractive people of every ethnicity. Hmph.

It's not necessarily the actual ethnicity that one might be attracted to or not attracted to, but the attributes associated with that ethnicity, whether it be skin color, facial structure, body structure, etc. Popular culture and media has dictated some semblance of an "ideal" model of attractiveness, and certain ethnicities may not possess some, or any, of the characteristics of this model. Hence, they get the proverbial "short end of the stick." 1

Unfortunetly all the Asian women I know (from China and Korea and the like) are all taken. I.E. boyfriends or even husbands. The ones I know of all are just grad students like me, but I get along with them well. Almost had a relationship with one, but I never really pushed it forward (My thread '25 year old virgin' basically explains why I screwed that up) But I'm not just attracted to Asian women. Every type has their beauties, European, American, Asian, African, Latina, and all the rest. For the record.
Els Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 LOL @ thinking that an Asian woman liking white men is a fetish. If anything it's the norm. EVERYBODY likes white people! My ex-girlfriend (who was Korean) said that if all things were equal (personality, $, etc) she'd pick a white guy over an Asian guy. As for myself, no preference... Errr, no. Many people seem to find the exotic, the most physically 'exciting'. Personally, I don't have any race-based physical preferences.

matte123 Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 As an Asian woman, my preference would be Asian men. My exposure to Asian men during my life was very little until I went to college so I don't think exposure explains my attraction to them. Something in their overall facial traits just appeals to me so much more than other ethnicities
USMCHokie Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 I have no idea what you just said or how it responds to what I said. Hence, they get the proverbial "short end of the stick." Translation with smaller words and less of them: People of diff'ernt ethnicities look diff'ernt because they have diff'ernt features. The TV makes certain features more "purdy" than others. Those people of ethnicities that don't usually have those "ideal" features are seen as less "purdy." It has less to do with the ethnicity itself and more to do with the features associated with that ethnicity. And now back to the regularly scheduled programming: So it responds to your statement because you say all ethnicities have attractive people. Of course that's true, because there are individuals of every ethnicity who possess what media has portrayed as "attractive features" or possess less of what society deems "unattractive features." So you may not think of it in terms of ethnicity, but an objective third party could certainly notice patterns and trends correlating who you deem attractive and ethnicity. To put it simply, I'll leave you with something someone actually told me to my face: "You don't look that Asian..."

FrustratedStandards Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 Latinos are actually great FS. They love women. I know. I've dated a few, but I wouldn't consider anything serious with them. Their culture and mentalities are very different than mine, and that seems to always be the problem, so although I find some of them attractive, I don't consider them as potential partners, I don't take them seriously.
USMCHokie Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 This is true, and in some countries the standards of beauty are so narrow. Of course. And you'll notice that more often than not, that narrow spectrum of beauty is limited to those who possess more Causacian features... 1
mesmerized Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 Of course. And you'll notice that more often than not, that narrow spectrum of beauty is limited to those who possess more Causacian features... Not everywhere. Certain ethnicities/cultures find my non-Caucasian features very attractive. Where I live though I agree with you. The more Caucasian you look the better chance you have with men lol
USMCHokie Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 So, how do you look like? I look a lot like the douche in my avatar.

Okay, try. For example, I find Daniel Dae Kim, Hrithik Roshan, Faran Tahir, Blair Underwood, Eric Bana, Billy Zane, Matt Damon and Ryan Reynolds attractive. So, what patterns and trends among these men show a preference or one or more ethnicities over others?
