DuchessKaye Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 Is it offensive to say that men flash their money to woo girls into their beds cause that's where they respond to and women use their looks to rinse all these rich dumb ass's wallets??? However, both sides do get away with what they want. What are you insight about this?
wwwjd Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 I'd say that is obvious the truth or why would we men drive nice cars, or women bother EVER buying ANY makeup? Then again, this attitude is "Sexist" and unhealthy (even though it is completely natural, happens 99% of the time all over the planet, and isn't going to change ever) and sexism is wrong. We need to stop this from happening immediately. MEN: Stop buying nice cars to show off your wealth! WOMEN: Stop buying all makeup and attractive clothing! There, it is done. You are welcome. Society can be wonderful now that we are equal. (anyone getting a clue yet?)
Andy_K Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 While this might hold true as a generalisation, some people are a bit more evolved than others. Everyone's got slightly different buttons that get them going. Personally, I'm much further above average in terms of looks than I am in terms of wealth, so I prefer to play to that strength. Consequently I might find myself dating the occasional girl who's a bit shallow, but the chances of landing a gold digger are slim to zero.
verhrzn Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 That does explain why me throwing cash at all those cute guys at the latest Magic tournament didn't do diddly for my dating life... 1
Mme. Chaucer Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 OP, wwwjd is your psychic twin. I don't believe in your "both sides" stance. I don't even live in that world.

verhrzn Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 Magic: The Gathering? Yep! The Pathfinders group was full.
Author DuchessKaye Posted April 25, 2012 Author Posted April 25, 2012 OP, wwwjd is your psychic twin. I just realized this
Andy_K Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 Yep! The Pathfinders group was full. Ah, I used to play that loads. Way back in the days of 4th edition and Ice Age through to Tempest/weatherlight or so. It got too expensive after a while though, as they kept releasing new sets every few months. Not many tournaments over here in the UK either. Don't get me started on the online version...same prices but you don't actually get any physical cards! What a rip off!

However, both sides do get away with what they want. What are you insight about this? That's a really cynical way of looking at it. While I've no doubt that kind of behaviour does occur, I don't see any evidence of it in the circles that I'm part of.

However, both sides do get away with what they want. What are you insight about this? Possibly. But it's more of the act of flashing cash and acting like you have $ than actually having it. I live in the NYC area and half of the people I know are doctors and dentists. They usually end up marrying other doctors and dentists and professionals. You might get really hot, gold digging women in this area, but only if you pull in upwards of $250,000 or more. The guys who drive around in Mercedes and flash a lot of cash around and take women on expensive trips probably work as Real Estate salesmen and make $70,000 a year. Edited April 25, 2012 by jobaba 1

True and the people who make big money rarely ever flash it.

Yeah it gets expensive; I try to play as much as I can casually, and I enjoy "hanging around" tournaments. So who do you think would be the better option for me to throw my money at, Pathfinders or Magic players?
threebyfate Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 My insight is that people need to connect with the real world instead of believing the world is solely comprised of two stereotypes. People are a lot more complex than Jersey Shore or SATC caricatures. 1

All women are either Snooki or Carrie and all men are The Situation or Mr Big.

Pyro Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 I find a relatively strong correlation between wealth and physical appearance... not all the time. I am no where near being wealthy, but I am damn good looking.
USMCHokie Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 not all the time. I am no where near being wealthy, but I am damn good looking. I'd hit it. But seriously though, a lot of the characteristics of what make someone physically attractive in modern culture can be obtained through the spending of money (e.g., hair Carr, makeup, gym memberships, clothing, etc.). And often those in positions to create any degree of wealth need to maintain their appearance in their day to day functioning. And by wealth, I don't mean Warren Buffett. I mean you have enough money to spend on your appearance.

Not taking anything away from your post BTW.
