While on the drive home yesterday I thought of a way some of the more rejection fearing members here might be able to eliminate a source of rejection. I will say that it could come off rather creepy to some without the right attitude.

Anyways here we go:

First you approach someone you might be interested in. Ask them if they have a moment to take an informal poll.

Start with something like "To qualify for this study it is necessary to ask if you fall in a certain age range"

Question 1: Do you fall between the ages of 19-25? (or whatever your dating range is)

Question 2: If you are in a relationship currently, how long has this relationship lasted to this point?

  • If you get an answer other than "I'm not currently in a relationship", then close your study and thank them for their time.

Question 3 (If you'd still like more clarification): If you are not currently in a relationship, when would you say your last date was?

  • If you get an excited response like "last night", then you need to decide whether or not to pursue.
  • If you get a "weeks" or "months" ago... go on to the next step.

Final Step: "Hi I'm (insert name here)"

Could it come off creepy? Sure. Would it eliminate the fear of them already being taken or making the "I'm seeing someone" excuse? Yes.

Anyways, not sure why I ponder these things on my drive home but I tend to come up with a lot of good advice (at least in the coping sections anyways) while driving.

So ladies, would this come off as creepy or cute?

Shy guys... would this help take a bit out of the fear of rejection?

I kinda like that approach, but I'm a guy. Who knows how women would feel about it? But I like it.
