That it just wasn't going to work out.

I've never broken up before, so I'm just curious what other people think.. I admit I felt tempted to break up, or at least thought about it before, mainly because I kinda resent my bf in ways.. But overall I love him.

Anyways, tell me your reasons.

When you feel relief and happier at the thought that you won't be together anymore.

When you feel like you are walking through waste high mud.

When you don't know if the next text will be "I love you" or "Its over"

When all of your friends tell you "You are not the same anymore"

You will know. It will not be a still small voice, it will be a thunderclap.

Only once did I break up with a girl. The same pattern of behavior repeated, for two years, with one breakup in the middle for that exact same pattern, and my talking to her about that same pattern endlessly for those two years. I think giving someone a couple years to get it right, with open communication about the issues during that time, is about the best you can do. This girl can never say I didn't try to make it work.

for me I broke up when I know we don't feel the same about one another.

...about the 6th time he called me by his ex's wife's name...He beat me to the breaking up though, after I caught him on several dating sites while still with me.

the times i have dumped people were usually for immature or selfish feelings of fancy when i was young. i guess last time i left someone, it was for good reason, he was abusive and i had a warning in my head every day, you better get out know while you can, this can only get worse...eventually, i got so scared i programmed the police number in my cell so one button and it would call them, and i had to use it.

that was it for me. i was single for three years after that, because it caused me to not trust my inner guy picker. that, and i was scarred emotionally from being called a failure, and a waste of space, among other things. then i met my last ex, and things seemed fine, and he just left. i'm still guessing he left out of fear, we were getting serious, to the point of talking marriage, and he decided he wasn't ready to go there, and that it wasn't fair to hold me back, because he wasn't sure he would ever be ready to go there. anyway, when it is your choice to break up, i hope it is for a real reason and not 'I'm bored, or maybe there is something better," which is what it used to be for me when i was in my twenties. i think perhaps, i am getting what i have earned now, perhaps.
