Depending on who I am talkin to I am either short or I am tall... I am a little over 5'6" which isn't super tall but a bit taller than average and I look taller cause of my build

I saw someone saying 5'4" is short, but that's rather average

I know 5'6" is above average (eg for the US, or UK) but it's close enough that I don't immediately think of 5'6" as being "tall" for a woman. It's "average-ish", but then I'm tall.

To me, 5'7" or 5'8" is kinda tall and anything above that is tall. But I'm a short guy. People go by their own perspective when it comes to height.

I've heard many people say the average height of a man is 6 foot or even taller. It is in fact 5'9.5". For a woman it is 5'4" so you are on the tall side of average.

Anything above 5 foot 8 or 9 is pretty tall for a girl

My exW's best female friend is a strikingly blue-eyed blond of about 5'10" (exW is 5'1" so her friend kinda towered over her). That seemed 'tall' to me. My exW never appeared to feel intimidated by her friend's height but would often comment about how awesome her breasts were. I don't know what that was about :D

im 5'2 i have extremely tall friends (5'8 and above) they seem to be more insecure about their height then i am, they seem to feel less feminine, they always complain that tall guys go short women. but i think its silly, models are tall for a reason!

I'm 6'2'', anything above me is tall. Everything below is just fine :).

I'm only 5'6 so any girl that's at least 5'7 is tall for me.

I always thought 5'6" was considered average height for a woman in the U.S. That's what I had always read, but it might have changed recently due to immigration. I'm 5'8", and so is my husband. I enjoy being able to put my arms around him and kiss him without having to tiptoe or have my neck in an uncomfortable backward position reaching up to a guy. Although I think men who are tall are attractive, I've always preferred men who are average height.

I consider a girl tall at 5'7" or more. That's a good couple inches above average (Probably just under 1 standard deviation, for you mathematicians out there). For similar reasons I consider a guy tall if he's 6' or more, and short at around 5'7" or less.

Eight feet is definitely considered tall for a girl.

It's only 5'6" in a few countries where everybody is white, blonde, and Viking. :lmao:

People imagine the average height to be closer to them. If you're a tall woman, you imagine it to be taller. If you're a short man, you imagine it to be shorter. Everybody wants to be closer to the average.

5'6 is above average (I think you're right that average is 5'4), but I don't think it's considered "tall". I'm 5'8 (and a half!) and people call me tall all the time. I think I look taller cause I'm thin too. My bf said I'm the tallest girl he's been with...I am taller than most other girls most the time. My closest friend is nearly 5'11 and my old roommate was 6'. I consider myself tall, but some people don't really....those 2 are DEF considered tall though.

I'd say 5'8plus is tall for a girl.

Well, I don't really care how close I am to average height. I've always liked being tall. I just remember reading statistics over the years that had the average height of women as being 5'6", and the average height of men as being 5'8".

5-11 is about my upper limit.

I'm ~5'6" and I think it's average.

It depends on who you ask though-men tend to think anything below their height is short.

Wow. I'm 5'1" and never realized I was taller than the average where I come from. Interesting page, jobaba, but I think there are many inaccuracies in the studies. Wiki does tend to be a little prone to that.

I do. ;)

Or maybe she just spent a lot of time looking at them because they were at her eye level.

6'2" is like the perfect height for a dude, IMO

ya, it's funny and short people think I am really tall and tall people think I am really short.

I just consider myself a lil taller than average... one dude thought I was 5'10" but my build is kind of lanky so it makes sense

lol, it really is all relative. I'm 5' tall, so I've always thought of girls who are even just 5'5" and 5'6" as being in "tall territory."

I don't like being as short as I am, but I like petite in general. I think 5'2" to 5'4" is ideal. That said, I think women who are 5'5" to 5'8" are lucky too because they've got a stature that people just naturally respect.

I do have a number of taller female friends who have said they feel "big" around me. And I feel "small" around them. It's all lose-lose...

I am 5'8. I am eye level with most guys. However I don't mind.

I always get "you are soooo tall!" and I am between 5 8 and 5 9.

My best friend is 6 2 and I look short in comparison.

To be 100% honest, I absolutely love being tall and wouldn't trade it :D

I guess it depends on where you're located. In the US the average height for a woman is 5'4 but it's different in Peru (my homecountry). The women are shorter there and for them they think I'm tall at 5'7. I just see it as slightly above average.
