So my BF dated his ex for 4 years-ish, then broke it off when he found out she had cheated on him. Thing is, they have a son together (almost 2 years old), so she's still a pretty big part of his life. I see her almost every weekend when BF goes to pick up his son or she drops him off, and on the whole we are civil (it's best for the little one IMO). But outside of those encounters, I don't really feel that inclined to talk to her or engage with her in any way. Meanwhile she thinks that because she's the mother of my BF's son that she and I should be "besties" (her word, not mine). She bombarded my Facebook page til I "unfriended" her and stopped answering her messages, then she started blowing up my phone. Why can't she take the hint that I don't want to be besties, just cordial?

Just tell her. Some people cannot take hints.

Be nice about it, though - something like " I think your nice and would like to hang out with you, but your my b/f's ex, therefore it feels strange for me. I would love to be better friends if it were not for the fact u were with my boyfriend though, so plz do not take offence.

I want to talk and be nice to u when we see each other, but I do not want to go out of my way to meet up or chat to u; not unless you happen to see my bf when I am with him.

I wish u the best and hope u are not offended. It is honestly not u - it is the situation we are in.

Thanks!! Just hoping that won't tick her off too much, because due to circumstances, irregardless of what happens I will still have to deal with her somewhat regularly. Because the child's involved I don't want things to be hostile between me and his mother

I have no advice if she can't be an adult, but thank you so much for this.

Some women don't seem to get the child matters more than anybody else in the situation, and that is scary when they are still getting involved with a father.
