What does it mean when a guy that swears in front of others not swear in front of you?

He's not this bad character but I just found out from a friend that this guy we know swears but I've never heard him swear in front of me.

My friend judged that as the guy liking me. But does it make sense to base it on the swearing thing?

No, it makes no sense. Not even a little. Almost every guy I know tries not to swear around a lady. It sounds ignorant and our mothers taught us better.

Oh, he swears in front of the other ladies.

I should have explained a little. That's why my friend, who's female and has heard him swear in front of her, thinks the guy likes me for that.

It didn't occur to me actually. The flip side could be true. That he's not comfortable around me to swear?

I'm exactly like that. It extends to all women... but curse like a sailor around the guys. Chalk it up to manners, nothing more.

So why does he swear in front of the other women then?

Ah, I see you added that info after I made my post. Unless you are his boss or someone else he has to be a certain way around, then I have to agree with your friend.

I don't think he's in a position that he needs to be a different way with me. Though many other factors don't tell me that he's interested.

How strong a signal is this swearing thing? It's confusing.

it's not one at all. you're overthinking it.

Lol. This could be the worst 'signal' that a member of the opposite sex likes me of all eternity.:lmao:

I would never, ever swear in front of a girl I liked. Then again, I typically don't swear in front of strangers, male or female. You could easily take it as a sign he likes you.

I do watch my language more with women I'm attracted to, and assume a woman swearing lots around me is not interested in me sexually. No idea about OP's guy though. Next time you see him, say "what's up MFing c-scker? how's yer hammer hangin?" and see how he responds.

Seems like this is a 50-50, according to the posts.

I swear in front of him. Nothing like what you suggested but just some F-words.

He didn't really flinch though.
