I'm not jealous of younger women, either. Honestly. I had my time. Everyone has their youth, and as long as they are still alive, everyone will have their time when their youth is behind them.

Enjoy the time of your life you are inhabiting NOW.

Beautifully said!

As a guy who is still in his mid-20s, I still don't quite understand why it's "sad" to see an older guy trying. If a woman seems attractive no matter her age and the man is available and has the balls to try talking to her, what exactly makes it sad?

I really truly do NOT think that's sad. What I think is sad is when they are "trying" to emulate young men while they are at it.

I feel exactly the same way about "older women" (like me) who try to dress and act like they are in their 20's in pursuit of the attention of young men.

But, I am perfectly fine with people of ANY age dating, or trying to date, people of any age they like.

I don't find it threatening that lots of single men my age would like to date a woman who is younger. When I was single and dating after my divorce, I saw this a lot in OLD and I just moved on. All I knew was that these guys weren't for me, nor I for them.

But, if I saw a picture of a guy my age surrounded by his midlife crisis props and perhaps displaying a photo of him in a club flanked by buxom young hotties with their faces blacked out - that might get a chuckle out of me.

The OP brought to mind an image of a guy in my age range trolling the clubs and college campuses trying to "run game" on the young, and bemoaning the fact that it's not the same as it was when he was 10 or 20 years younger. That seems pathetic.

The clubs around me seem to all types of ages. I can go to a bar and there are young to middle aged to even a couple old people.

Apply the decoder ring. Any area where men have an innate advantage, dating into middle age and older for example, over women generally, when men exercise that advantage, it inevitably becomes ridiculed by resentful women as "sad," "pathetic," whatever.

Despite claiming to abhor stereotypes and prejudices, they will apply such to men with abandon, men they don't even know, who may be as happy as pigs in sh-t in their lives. Have listened to whole tables full of "sadsayers" go on and on about the "sadness" of things and people they know absolutely nothing about on many occasions:

"Oh that's so sad."

"Yes sad very sad."

"Sadsadsad."

"Oh so very very sadsad."

"Sadly so sadsad sadly so."

"It saddens me deeply."

"Oh yes, deeply sadsaddened."

ad infinitum

This really, and it's not just about what you are referencing dasein.

This stereotyping applies to when you first meet them too, why i think online dating is a waste of time for a man who tries to meet women really interested in a LTR ... online dating is like shopping for them. :)

Yep, its sad.

I was out with a few soon to be spinsters last weekend, the only thing sader than the older guy going after younger chicks were the attractive girls that had to dress like that to get a man's attention.
