Yes, we are talking about everyone - men, women, children, geriatrics and midgets. I'm sure you will be happy to know that "only" 64% of American women are overweight/obese

Healthy weight for a 5'0 tall female is in the 90-110 lbs range:

Ideal Weight and Height Chart | Body Mass Index Chart | Rush

When it comes to weight and height combination everyone is different! I had this friend who was 5'1" and 130 lbs but hard as a rock, worked out everyday and looked amazing. My weight is much more than the ideal skinny weight I'm supposed to have and I can still easily make almost any guy horny by showing off my body because of the way I carry my weight.

Do you understand the meaning of the bolded word? Also refer to the BMI calculator embedded in YOUR link. If you plug in verhrzyn's numbers it says "healthy" in green letters.

Okay, fair enough. But 'healthy' simply means that your life is not at risk...it doesn't mean attractive. 90-110 lbs would be considered attractive weight for a 5'0 female (even though 110 is pushing it a bit IMO). As another poster said, in the dating world, no one cares if your weight is statistically healthy...all that matters is how it looks.

You also have to keep age in mind. If vrhzn was in the 40s and a mother three, 125 lbs would be acceptable. But she is in her 20s and has never had kids.

Why are so many rich guys (who have their pick of the available women) dating thin women?

Bull****. Only status-seekers think this way. Then there's people who prefer actually care for others, and who let others care for them.

No, it's just a fact. Who is David Beckham married to? Or Brad Pitt? Or anyone else with money?

That's just how it works.

BTW, I have friends who care for me and who I care for dearly. I have family who are the same. I'm not dating those people. That should give you a clue.

I'm single because I love being that way. I've explained what I love about it in other threads. I've turned down two relationships in the last 12 months BTW.
Sure, sure.

I've already explained why there are so many American people dating, in relationships or married. A lot of them are afraid to be alone, and so they settle for what they can get. The majority of those relationships and marriages ultimately end because one partner or the other tries to trade up to the person they really want down the track.
Prove it. Provide official statistics that people wander away from relationships and marriages where BMI is 24.4.

Why are so many rich guys (who have their pick of the available women) dating thin women?
Do they all have BMI's of 19.5? That's the equivalent of 5'/100 lbs.

Attractive is subjective. What you prefer isn't what everyone else prefers. Understand?

Gee, I had no idea BMI was so important when dating. Strangely enough, no man has ever asked for my BMI nor have I ever asked a man his BMI. We prefer current, clear photographs. Seems so much easier, doesn't it?

Well, it's up to you whether you want to believe me, and I'm sure that will really worry me when I'm travelling through France and Spain next month.

Is that meant as a serious argument? Nobody records BMI measurements when they choose to date or break up with someone. If you're waiting for official statistics on this sort of thing, I suggest you turn off the computer for a while and go outside. Really, it doesn't matter whether I provide statistics or not. My opinions are based on experience, and generally, people either agree with me, or learn the hard way. I'll let you decide which course of action you want to take.

Really, I doubt people like Brad Pitt and David Beckham even know the BMI of their partners. I'll guarantee, however, that they know how good their partner looks naked.

Not at all. I read your post and responded to it as it was written, with facts. If you meant something else, you should have said something else.

Right. Once again, facts are meaningless, your preferences are the only acceptable preferences. Got it.

Umm...status seekers anyone?

Weight doesn't say much about how somebody looks.

I weigh 20 lb more than a friend of my height who wears 3 sizes larger in jeans.

BMI is a tool to measure risk in a populace, not to determine anything about an individual. It relies on average. We can tell that the United States has a burgeoning health crisis, but not whether vrhzn needs to lose weight.

(Actually, BMI has been problematic in identifying health issues in Asian countries because of low BMI even in cases of overfat, and they have found waist to hip ratio far more accurate)

(And for the record, vrhzn, I do hope you are laughing at discussions of whether your BMI is "acceptable" and are glad that you are not dating anyone who would ever think that. It is pretty funny. I do not know exactly what you look like but I do know that it is not the level of weight that pushes most guys away.)

Wrong. It's a mix of objective and subjective criteria. Most men prefer women who are thin (not to be confused with anorexic).

I think your needle is stuck.

Right. Once again, facts are meaningless, your preferences are the only acceptable preferences. Got it.

You aren't very good at this, are you? Preferences ARE what matters in the dating world. And most straight guys (myself included) have similar preferences.

Umm...status seekers anyone?

Sounds like someone's bitter at not being able to attract a man of means.

You defined it at 5'/100 lbs which is equivalent to a BMI of 19.5. So you're saying that most men prefer women at 19.5 and not 24.4? Any idea what 19.5 and 24.4 BMI look like? Bet you couldn't peg them while walking down the street looking at women.

Well since this thread has become yet another verhrzn thread...

BMI is every bit as reliable as the statement "I'll only put the tip in."

It was invented in the early 19th century when doctors were the same as barbers and were still bleeding people, is designed to measure populations, and is fatally flawed in several ways when used in individuals. The reason doctors use it at all is as an impersonal, inoffensive way to say, "You are really really fat" to their patients. It isn't used in any competitive sports I'm aware of nor any other measure of physical fitness to a specific purpose.

But by all means, don't take my word for it, read the below link, and if really interested the links within it.

Do you really truly think the skinnier the better it looks naked? I've heard the opposite from many, many guys and no these aren't some ugly unfit poor guys either, quite the opposite.

I don't think the fact that skinny women are a trend now means that is what men are attracted to, biologically speaking. Even when you look at porn stars, the women are rarely as skinny as angelina jolie! Having an ass or a good chest goes a much longer way than a flat body all over. Kim kardashian is talked about as a sex symbol way more than these other girls you mentioned and I wouldn't call her "skinny".

Don't most American football players have 30+ BMIs, like rugby players, making them obese by that measure, which shows how inaccurate BMI is as a measure of obesity.

The number one element that attracts me to a woman is she likes men.

First of all it wasn't just me who "defined" that. Even the medical school of the university who's website I linked thinks that 90-110 is the ideal weight for a 5'0 (meaning that 100 lbs is the average ideal weight and that my estimation was spot on).

By the way, since you seem to know everything....What's the BMI of the typical playboy bunny? That's the body type that the majority of men prefer.

Hey buddy, here's a fact: There's over 6 billion humans and only one Beckham.

And yet still, you missed the point. Sloan even wrote a song about you.

I'm not the one harping on verhrzyn's weight, telling her she's 25 lbs overweight. Don't tell me to prove your own ridiculous point that 5'/100 lbs is the norm.

We both know you are wrong. Everyone knows you're wrong.

Ummm, Beckham was just one example. It could be any other rich man. Again, just look at the women the majority of them date, you'll find that most of them hook up with thin women, like it or not. And no, I didn't miss the point, unless you meant something other than what you posted.

Those two women you mentioned are close to being anorexic and have been talked about even in the skinny loving media as being "too thin".
