Wait, don't all British women look like Patsy and Adina? Have I been making a fantasy mistake wacking off under my Union Jack comforter all these years?

If we are stereotyping I am sure I read that America is the fattest nation in the world with 45% who have butts so big they need their own zip code!

As for the green rotting teeth, I do not know one person with teeth that bad and at least we dont have Big Mac particles stuck in em!

British children getting fatter at twice the weight of American children:

Is that right? Maybe it is because the American kids fat parents eat all the pie?

LOL @ you implying British adults don't have obesity problems.:lmao:

All the things you Brits say about our weight is what the Continental Europeans say about you guys:

Highest obesity in Europe for the oh-so-skinny Brits.

Regardless, post 40 was hardly positive about the English.

Yet strangely enough, I only date British men. Not too thrilled with British women though.

I have never said that there is no bad dental hygiene here. What I have said is that it is nowhere near as bad as some of your posts imply.

What you said was "But I live in the UK and do not know anybody who has bad dental hygiene." Hence my response that it must therefore not exist because you do not know anyone with poor dental hygiene. Now you admit to having seen it but "nowhere near as bad."

Please don't call me "dear" - it is very condescending and not at all appreciated.

Sorry, luv!

What is an Oxbridge accent? You do realise that Oxbridge is not a real place?

It refers to Oxford and Cambridge University. My journalist friend went to Cambridge and he set me up on a blind date with his friend who went to Oxford. Their accents sounded identical me. They both went to boarding schools as children so I'm sure it's an upper class accent as well. I believe that accent is also called RP (received pronunciation) or a BBC accent. Music to my ears, unlike most of the regional accents. Oxbridge Blues was a TV series in the '80s. Won a BAFTA.

your attempt to suggest my experience of Florida is based on Disneyworld is yet again patronising and incorrect.

Same with your patronising and incorrect assumptions about my experience in the UK.

I am not going to sit around and watch someone come out with ignorance of this level without questioning it.

Says she who never heard the term "Oxbridge" before.

Look "Luv"

I really am totally fed up with this idiotic argument.

But as for your Oxbridge comment. You talk of an Oxbridge accent and that I have never heard of Oxbridge (strange that, seeing as I was the one who said Oxbridge when you mentioned Cambridge).

You do realise that both Oxford and Cambridge Universities accept students from not just all over England but also the UK and even the world hence there is no specific "accent". Your experince is just based on 2 students - that does not make the "accent" an Oxbridge one.

Oh, goodness, there are an array of posh accents in the UK, but the Oxbridge accent thing is a misnomer. It's a dialect, and it's actually a predominately immigrant idea -- it's the dialect immigrants from other countries in Britain are most likely to try to mimic to help themselves with British society. I don't know if it's still done in quite that way, but that appears to be its roots from what I can gather. Oxbridge is what they title British accent pronunciation training/English acquisition courses frequently. There's no such thing as a "natural" Oxbridge accent, though it's based on an array of posh accents and an educated English dialect. It's a TEFL thing, honestly. Maybe it caught on reverse to some society and FitChick heard it? But I cannot imagine it emerging there.

Source: I taught TEFL at a school that had an Oxbridge dialect course as part of its TEFL program (I'm not even British, but I can do the accent to fill in if need be) in London. There are quite a few throughout Europe. Outside of the EU, an American accent is the preferred accent for TEFL worldwide, but in Britain, and surrounding countries, a posh accent and properly enunciated British dialect can make quite the difference, I suppose. Personally, posh accents are not my favorite British accents. Easiest to imitate, though.

I don't know about the majority, but I'd say there are some pretty fine British men here in Hollywood. If someone comes to the U.S. from abroad, I'd say they'd be pretty shocked at the weight issues so many Americans have over here. European people also dress better. I would agree, though, that Scandinavian people are attractive. I've known a lot of them, and I can't think of a single one that was not attractive. And they seldom have weight issues either over there. I've been to Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland several times. They're an attractive bunch, generally.

I never noticed anything particularly less beautiful about the British than about others. Beauty standards are BS and in the eye of the beholder. I personally think dark Jews - Mizrahi, Sephardi - are especially beautiful, while my European friends think they're hairy apes. I don't like certain traits, racial or otherwise, but my personal opinion does not affect the true value of these people, just as I do not want to be labeled by the size of my ass.

The winners according to the article, sound like typical Disney Aryans to me. Very tall and light. Well, how is light better than dark, tall better than short? They are merely opposites. But is a hot chocolate milk generally and definitely better than a cold vanilla milk?

And personally, I don't like blond.

I am not British, but I am offended on their behalf, as a person who does not live up to beauty standards.

Congratulations mate, with this post you've just gone from one of LS' most rational and intelligent posters to little better than a troll.

I expected better.

Agreed.

Stereotypes exist because there is a grain of truth in all of them. Don't get your knickers in a twist if they don't describe you.

Carry on!

When you're using them to describe all British people, then you shouldn't go around telling those same people not to get their knickers in a twist.

I'm mildly amused, just because I remember when the troll brigade was spewing all their venom into the defamation of American women, and several of the British regulars were laughing at the resultant hullaballoo, sweetly above it all.

I wasn't. I defend Americans against stereotypes, as well as Brits, and others.

Even if we're talking about looks, even British people have to admit they have a distinct look about them that differs from Scandinavians, Germans, and other Europeans. Don't believe me? Ask the British posters.

We do? I don't know about now, but I've had a Native American look to me - I kept having people point it out to me. Mum is British, Dad is American. Dad has Brits in his ancestry, too.

Hey! I have a passport and I'll be traveling to the UK soon. So I'll get to see first hand.

You guys are being way too sensitive though If you're taking this post seriously, I actually found it by accident and had a good laugh at it since it just happened to be the subject of another forum post on here, just a funny coincidence. That's all that way was intended, for humor.

It doesn't mean you're ugly by any means, In fact so far the women on LS I've seen with pics of have all been attractive.

Sorry, I didn't see this before. I was surprised when I saw the original post from you, and wondered what the deal is with people attacking the looks of the English (again).

Having certain features may be the case, but does it make one ugly? I do think some British have elongated, "horse-like" faces, but I never found it ugly.

Ah, good to see old fashioned racism is alive and well on LS. I'd be delighted to see how long a poster lasted if they started a thread discussing "further proof that Black / Jewish / White / Asian people are ugly".

British people among world's ugliest, according to BeautifulPeople.com - Telegraph

Thanks to another post that lead into an argument between Brits been less than savory in their looks, I have found clear documented proof that should settle the case!

Here is a brief summary for those who don't like to click links;

"Fewer than one in eight British men (12 per cent) and just three in 20 women (15 per cent) who have applied to BeautifulPeople.com have been accepted as members.

Britons are among the ugliest people in the world, according to a website that only allows 'beautiful' people to join.

Since the website was opened to UK members 295,000 people have applied, with only 35,000 being approved.

Beautiful People managing director Greg Hodge said: "Asking why British people are doing so badly is a tough question.

"It hurts me - I'm English.

"I think there is less emphasis on appearance in the UK than overseas.

"If you go to some countries they are very into how they look - very health and body conscious.

"The UK attitude is a bit more about kicking back and relaxing, and having a few drinks in the pub after work."

The website is featured on CNN, BBC, The New York Times, The Washington Post, Vogue, GQ

P.S. This is all in good fun/teasing ;)....well good for me, bad for you If you're a Brit :(

I'm a member of that site and seemed pretty easy to get in. I honestly don't get the point of it though since theres barely anyone in my area on it.

I find that British guys are better looking than British women (I have lived in England). I think it's more of the fact that they are not a culture that focuses on looks and working out and are not as shallow as America.
