British people among world's ugliest, according to BeautifulPeople.com - Telegraph

Thanks to another post that lead into an argument between Brits been less than savory in their looks, I have found clear documented proof that should settle the case!

Here is a brief summary for those who don't like to click links;

"Fewer than one in eight British men (12 per cent) and just three in 20 women (15 per cent) who have applied to BeautifulPeople.com have been accepted as members.

Britons are among the ugliest people in the world, according to a website that only allows 'beautiful' people to join.

Since the website was opened to UK members 295,000 people have applied, with only 35,000 being approved.

Beautiful People managing director Greg Hodge said: "Asking why British people are doing so badly is a tough question.

"It hurts me - I'm English.

"I think there is less emphasis on appearance in the UK than overseas.

"If you go to some countries they are very into how they look - very health and body conscious.

"The UK attitude is a bit more about kicking back and relaxing, and having a few drinks in the pub after work."

The website is featured on CNN, BBC, The New York Times, The Washington Post, Vogue, GQ

P.S. This is all in good fun/teasing ;)....well good for me, bad for you If you're a Brit :(

Congratulations mate, with this post you've just gone from one of LS' most rational and intelligent posters to little better than a troll.

I expected better.

That's it in a nutshell. Vanity is practically a crime there. If you make the slightest effort, you mustn't let anyone know. Most of them just can't be bothered and they don't care what anyone else thinks. Fine, if it works for them. It also makes it better for women who do make an effort because they reap the rewards.

I'm British. Neither of you have a clue what you're talking about.

People were upset at me for using the term "Ugly Kingdom" in the other thread, but it's true.

This seems more attractive and healthy than applying for membership in an outfit called BeautifulPeople.com.

The article, as OP's post, is obviously intended as "tongue in yellow toothed cheek." The website's acceptance rate is about 15% as clearly stated, so conclusions reached from a 12-15% acceptance of brits that the site is singling out brits as being particularly ugly is silly (intentionally so IMO). In all likelihood, the site's publicists are behind the article also to an extent, by trumpeting exclusivity, it draws more attention to the site.

Oh well, sometimes rejection is good. I accept this.

Wow, I'm British, yet I've been called ugly and rejected by lots of British girls, and have been totally unsuccesful with women offline over here. That must make me super ugly.

Totally agree. I am both disappointed and offended by the OP's post.

I don't think it has anything to do with vanity being a "crime" in UK. London is on par with Milan, Paris and New York as one of the top fashion-oriented cities in the world. I think it just boils down to bad genes thanks to the Brits being isolated from the rest of Europe for so long and having inbred as a result.

i've noticed that even in the US, Canada, Australia and other former British colonies, people of English/Scottish/Irish ancestry tend to be uglier than white people of non-British ancestry (i.e. Scandinavians, Eastern-Europeans, Italians, Germans).

Lol, no shame!

Well I suppose these conversations are really the only source of information for Americans, what with less than 20% of you all having passports.

Gosh, how gullible are you?

Hence I can see how those few who have visited .. anywhere.. must be held in high esteem by the rest of your nation. Do they get free stuff?

Be half of you haven't even been to Canada.

Take care,

As someone from a long line of that ancestry, agree wholeheartedly. We are quite an ugly lot. We do own everything, though, due mostly to our stingy Scotch-Irish heritage and penny-pinching ways, so are able to buy sexual attraction from others, it all works out in the end.

But you know, in America, you have a LOT of people who have made themselves really ugly by having plastic surgery on their face, and by having fake plastic tits.

Then there's the fact that it's obesity epidemic is more bigger than ours, nad you've got plenty of stick thin celebs over there.

There's still a lot of beautiful people in America, but, I'm just sayin.

Oh yes of course which is why approx 80% of UK citizens have a passport and only 30% of US citizens do. Now who really is isolated from the rest of the world.....

Hey! I have a passport and I'll be traveling to the UK soon. So I'll get to see first hand.

You guys are being way too sensitive though If you're taking this post seriously, I actually found it by accident and had a good laugh at it since it just happened to be the subject of another forum post on here, just a funny coincidence. That's all that way was intended, for humor.

It doesn't mean you're ugly by any means, In fact so far the women on LS I've seen with pics of have all been attractive.

I think we should pick on the Khoisan folks next. Those little bastards...

Well, in all fairness I could travel close to 600 miles and still be in Texas.

Still the US, whereas I could travel 800 (or less!) miles and be in France, Austria, Germany, Norway, Switzerland, Italy or Poland.

Though I probably need to go via an optician as I read GT's 600 miles as 800

My point exactly. We can travel our asses off and still not cross an international border. Less need for a passport. Although I'm glad I have mine. Would've never gotten the chance to see a lioness take down a warthog close to the Mozambique border otherwise.

The amount of feelings being caught in this thread is surprising .

Maybe it's because I'm not "indigenous British" lol
