Samantha16 Posted June 17, 2004 Posted June 17, 2004 It's one of those days where nothing in your wardrobe looks good on you. I feel as though I have nothing to wear. My belly droops over all my pants and skirts. and summer's here and I can't fit into any of my shorts from last year!!! One year and I can't fit into them! This is the first time in my life that I've had such a dramatic weight gain in this short amount of time. And because I've been so skinny all of my life everybody comments on my weight gain. About 8 months ago my mother said I'm getting a big butt, then 3 months ago she said I better suck in my belly. My next door neighbor commented on my weight gain and my mother said, "yeah, her and her brother having matching double chins!" My father said, "it doesn't matter if you're skinny, you've got to exercise and be healthy." I figured with summer here I'd be so active and modivated...Nope. Nothing. I'm just as lazy as I've always been and I love eating junk as much as I always have. It's been 2 years now where every 2/3 months or so I get on a healthy eating/exercise kick, which usually lasts 1 week if I'm lucky. I have not lost 1 pound, I just keep gaining and gaining. *sigh*, I wish I could kick myself in the butt and reach my goal.
echo31 Posted June 17, 2004 Posted June 17, 2004 every 10 years our metabolism slows a certain %age. If you don't exercise and keep eating poorly you will eventually gain weight no matter how skinny you are: skinny doesn't mean healthy. Get yourself into a program that offers emotional support as well as exercise so that you have a buddy that is going through similar struggles as you and can help motivate you. Stay away from those that only provide negative comments. Just because you have gained a little weight doesn't mean that you are not the same amazing person you have always been. Another key to starting any exercise program is baby steps, if you start too hard you will be sore or maybe injure yourself and then quit. Find something you like, you may have to try a few different sports till you find one you like. In the mean time keep your chin up, we all go through these ups and downs. Have faith in yourself that you will start a program and stick to it, believe me, when you do what you say you will and don't lie to yourself it is an awesome feeling when you are successful.
