ChamaineMarie Posted April 12, 2012 Posted April 12, 2012 Is there really a difference between someone's online persona(facebook, twitter, tumblr, etc) and how they would really present themselves in real life ?
Mme. Chaucer Posted April 12, 2012 Posted April 12, 2012 In plenty of cases, of course. People can make stuff up, you know.
samsungxoxo Posted April 12, 2012 Posted April 12, 2012 Yes that's my case. For instance, over here it feels like I can freely express myself as well as some of my double standards. However, if I tried that in real life then some people might not like it and others would probably confused me for a sexist. On facebook it depends on how I'm talking to. I'm not going to tell my cousin nor family members the same thing as I tell my friends from middle school.
smudge21 Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 Social media is a way for someone to let people see the person they want them to see, and also a way to hide the person they really are. Just like holiday photos, they're a snapshot of someone's life that they've chosen to share, not a true indication of that person.
Emilia Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 Is there really a difference between someone's online persona(facebook, twitter, tumblr, etc) and how they would really present themselves in real life ? From what I have seen, yes, it can be the case a lot of the time. A lot of people are very sensitive about the image they project. Tediously so.
