The kind of girl who is wearing a bikini, taken in her bathroom mirror, as her main photo. She's probably doing a duck-face, too.

AMEN, brother!!! :lmao:

Yeah, and why do guys show pics of their motorcycles?

Why do women post pics of their dog? Why do women post pics only of their head, blurry pics, pics when they were younger and thinner, of their tattoos, etc.? It's all lame.

Here's the OKC study in question.

The 4 Big Myths of Profile Pictures « OkTrends

Yes, it does say MySpace angles and cleavage shots work for women and chest shots work for men (young men in particular, by 31, the statistical edge is lost completely) in getting more return messages. Of course, no one knows what those messages say or result in (true across the board in most of OKC studies).

ftr, I would say if you're going for casual hookups and you have a 6 pack, showing it is a no-brainer. Just like showing the mirror cleavage and so forth. I think there may be some more complex data and thought involved if you're looking for something more serious.

At the very bottom, it talks about getting "meaningful" messages. That's the more interesting chart to me, personally. They only did women on that one, perhaps because women tend to receive more messages than men, so I'm not sure the data on men.

ETA: I will also add anecdotally that the men I saw on OKC who had perpetually red or even yellow (does not respond all the time/very often but gets lots of messages) buttons -- that are far rarer for men than women on OKC -- were guys who had pictures that met the criteria for "meaningful" messages listed under this article. To me, that suggests that men who are of high quality in meaningful ways are perhaps either in short supply or high demand or a combination, and that they do better at anything meaningful on OLD sites. I could be wrong, of course. Again, a lot of it depends on what you're looking for and who you're marketing to.

I think those people are being douchey. I don't think that means they're bad, horrible people who will never have relationships. I just think that they have a more Jersey Shore type aesthetic and mindset than I do, and the idea of ever going out with any of those people repelled me instantly. That doesn't need to be jealousy, and IME, rarely is. Most people I know don't find that aesthetic appealing. We're nerds. We have a different idea of sexy.

Ditto, completely.

I've gone out with guys who have very fit bodies; they're just not the type who do those pictures.

That's because you're not ripped. I didn't think I would do this either. But I've recently lost some weight and built a decent amount of muscle. Plenty happy to show my results, haha. I look good in that pic. And it took me putting in LOTS of hours of work to achieve it.

.

Nah, I put progress pics on my bodybuilding forum and i'm not ripped.

Headless of course.

but to purposefully attention whore on FB?

Not my style.

Besides I have like 30 friends.
