somedude81 Posted April 14, 2012 Posted April 14, 2012 No, I said I wouldn't refer to the guy as someone who was BF material in actual conversation. The point is that if you hear the term in RL, it is beneficial to understand when/why women say it. It's not really a term I hear in actual conversation. The only think I wanted to know is what makes a guy BF material. What things are necessary, what are the qualities, behaviors etc.

But, you should ask it like "What is "BF material" for a 19-22 y.o nice, naive, college girl? The girls think totally differently in terms of their preferences for BFs than any other girls think.
Els Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 Just curious. And I'm even more interested that you said it would take a lot more time to explain. Well, some of the qualities that I value in a man are fairly complicated to explain, as they would involve delving pretty deeply into my own personal psyche, values, and mindset. I suppose I could do a gross simplification, and state as my answer: A man with compatible values, mindsets, and intellectual wavelength. The term obviously means different things to different people. Most certainly does.
RachR Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 (edited) Boyfriend material for me would mean someone who has integrity, loyalty, possesses follow-through, and is personally responsible and consistent (including with his finances). Of course I'd have to feel that chemistry personality-wise and have sexual attraction, too. Edited April 15, 2012 by RachR
