threebyfate Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 'Met' is probably not the proper word. Encountered might be better. He was well known for interacting at a very humble level with other racers. I followed/ran SCCA in the 80's and ran into him a couple times at Riverside when he had his 300ZX. During that time, we 'amateurs' weren't groupies to the 'professionals'; we were just fellow racers. I remember the softest of demeanor, meaning polite and respectful, as well as the ocean of blue (his eyes) when he looked at you, and he looked right at you when he talked or listened. I was still pretty 'shy' at that age (mid 20's) so didn't say much; mostly listened and learned. He was a darned good racer. Many years later my exW and I would be at a large car show in SoCal and she would comment on how many handsome men there were around and if she had only known when she was single. I told her I ran into tons of them at the races and she had missed out on them simply by not getting into car stuff, even though she had lived in the area many years. Now, this year, I'll be at the same show looking for hot women Wow, that's an amazing story so thanks for sharing! RIP, Paul Newman was and still is the man.
Author SJC2008 Posted April 10, 2012 Author Posted April 10, 2012 Looks like I opened up a can of worms! IME women either think I'm very good looking, or not at all. No "ehhh...he's ok" lol. I haven gotten from ugly to movie star sexy (only got that one once lol). It's not easy being a ginger. A thining ginger at that. I better step my game up quick and meet a great one while I have some quality of life left left, hair wise!!! lol. Humor me I'm in a goofy mood.
DirtyDancing Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 My definition of handsome is strong, aristocratic features. Well-known handsome actors I would say are Paul Newman, George Clooney, Christian Bale. It really is the whole package, but what I consider handsome if I see it is a great smile, nice teeth, an athletic body and just a style and class that is different from the average Joe! I agree, it is similar to what men would consider a 'pretty' woman and a beautiful woman. 'Handsome' is in the eye of the beholder!
dasein Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 Have found that women who call me handsome aren't sexually interested. Has been kind of a consolation prize along the lines of "you look good... not to me... but you probably look good to somebody." LOL. 1
jobaba Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 You mean that's not you??? Handsome is sort of equivalent to pretty in a woman. A pretty woman has appealing, feminine facial features. Similarly, a handsome man has appealing, masculine facial features. A man or woman can be hot or cute with less appealing facial features. I've found a woman will call another woman pretty even if she really doesn't think so, but will almost NEVER call a man handsome unless she really means it ... like it's a word reserved for those she wants to seed her children.
louise_23 Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 When I was younger I got cute. Now I'm getting handsome and it seems outdated IMO. I guess it's a good thing lol. Give me your opinion of what handsome is if you don't mind. This isn't an ego boost or pic thread, I'm honestly curious. handsome is better than cute! hmm i dont like 'perfect' looking guys. im not really into big muscles. just a nice face, nice eyes & hair. reasonably nice teeth, stubble. mark foster is a good example.
