Pierre Posted April 7, 2012 Posted April 7, 2012 And meeting someone in RL makes him... known? You still don't know even 1/100 of his personality and I don't care how much of a people reader you think you are. As long as you keep the online phase short, I don't see any harm in OLD, not that I have ever done it myself, but my friend did and it worked great for him. OK, I get that. But, I was referring to that initial attraction one feels when you see someone. Lets assume you are back in school and you see this girl in the hallway all the time and every time you see her you feel attracted. I am talking about the physical initial attraction. Otherwise, I agree that developing an Internet relationship is not desirable.
lso802 Posted April 7, 2012 Posted April 7, 2012 I do not want to do long distance, ever ever again. lol. lmao, that bad? what happened?
jennisfora Posted April 7, 2012 Posted April 7, 2012 it was very bad, it was back and forth, many phone calls of telling me how awesome i was at one point, and then another would be like, well, i dont know. and then when i had vacation time, and wanted to fly over there, he would discourage it, it was weird. and i am over it completely, but it was confusing, and i know it isn't what i want. i want to get to know someone, and have no secrets, and i want someone who is willing to date me in the open. i think this guy had some serious issues with dating in general, and wanted something safe that couldnt develop into anything. maybe at the time i needed that as well. but, im done with that nonsense, i want to be able to look someone in the eye and know if they care or not. no wishy washy behavior, no i really like you, may love you, but dont come over here, maybe i will go there, but i dont know...arrgh. lol. 2
FitChick Posted April 7, 2012 Posted April 7, 2012 That's why clear, current photos -- head shot, full body -- are key. It doesn't matter which box they check on a form. No heavy winter coats, hats, baggy clothes, sunglasses. Ideally there will be multiple photos from different angles. Verifying whether or not those are current photos may be a bit tricky. For men, I look at their bellies, hairlines, jawlines (I date middle-aged men). The pic with the biggest gut, least hair and loosest jowls is the current one! For people who say they will email their photos later, it generally is bad news and puts you in an awkward position of having to reject them. Better to be on a website that lets you have private photos that you can unlock when you send the first email. Remember, when it comes to ANY kind of dating, talk is cheap.
