How do I confront certain members of this website about their addiction, without simultaneously encouraging their addiction by speaking to them on this website?

Knowing your posting history, I know this thread is tongue-and-cheek. However, given that you've posted in the addiction and recovery forum rather than the Water Cooler, I'm going to answer seriously:

Unless you know them personally and know that their addiction affects their quality of life, I would just let it go.

Sometimes people don't take too kindly to others pointing out things like this and they're likely to shoot the messenger.

An intervention is the only way. But it probably has to take place on some other site.

While we're at it, we can post disruptive messages on that site and try to recruit people to come LS. The addict win gets the attention they need. We get to troll someone else for a change. LS membership is increased. Win, win, win.

I find that the only way I break an addiction to one place, is to find a new place to spend that time. So much for spending more time offline. I started spending more time here, when I left another place.
