hey all, i have been with my great bf for about 6 days straight now and i am needing my space badly. We have been working out and doing things, but not a whole lot, so i am feeling smothered. is this normal? i am quite independent. I have noticed since i feel smothered, i dont have much of a sex drive. is this normal too?

how can i prevent this from happening again? I love him very much, weve been together almost a year. best relationship ever. but things like these stress me!

some people draw their energy from other people, and some people restore their energy when they're alone. it sounds like you're one and he's the other. both are perfectly normal. just tell him that you love him, that you adore him, you just need some alone time cause he just takes it all out of you...in a good way ;) (i'd change the wording on that one a bit, try and make it sound nice :p )

I couldn't have said it better, lydia.

If I have an "overly social" week it is harder for me to then go out with the bf. I'm done, I've had enough of humans in general. I have to hide and recharge. I feel bad for shutting my kids out, but sometimes I will go into my bedroom and close the door after a particularly social day. I need space. Its not the bf, personally, just make sure you make that clear to him. You need to recharge yourself, there is nothing wrong with that.
