El Brujo Posted March 31, 2012 Posted March 31, 2012 This morning I was googling a bunch of indie bookstores around the US so I can write them letters to ask if they'll be interested in my book in time for Mothers' Day. My book is a collection of all the things our mothers told us, i.e., eating fish will make you smart, eyeballs are magnets for darts and BBs, sneezing is a symptom of a life-threatening illness, etc etc etc. (Please don't reply to this post with more such myths: I pretty much got them all.) So far, all the friends and family I've shown the first few copies to---even the women who have kids---thought it was a hilarious book. My questions now are: Are there women who have/want kids who'd get angry at me for the way my book shoots these myths down? And how would single women feel about dating a guy who gets rich writing silly books like these?
