i told him i wanted my hard drive back, was going to send some one to get it

he acted all sad and stuff, like; it'd be good to see YOU

and told me about how he wanted to show me stuff and I was like; well was planning to go with friend... so it is possible to see me... but i won't go alone

and he was all sad I didn't want him in my life and i politely responded; you might be ready to be friends, but I am not

and he "joked" about having a fling I desperately offered a few days after the breakup... I flipped and was like; don't even bother giving me back my harddrive

and after more arguing I responded to his; sad we can't be friends with

"I tried to be a little civil by saying I would be going with the friend, but you fling joke really threw me off the deep end. good bye" phone is now off. so glad I can hate him now

well, anger is understandable. i think you got a lot of advice saying to not contact him about that harddrive...i don't think it would go well no matter what happened. maybe if you need it badly, just send a friend without you, because if you go, you might do something you will regret. sorry you are going through this. *hugs*

i know I should have been strong and just had the mail it and left it at that when it was offered

i sincerely apologize for not taking the good advice, this was my second slip up since the BU

Great he is mailing your hard drive that you need back. That's great because now there is TRULY NO NEED to contact him again. Stay strong.

My ex still has stuff of mine...and I have stuff of his. I put his stuff in a bag and stuffed it in the back of my closet. If he wants it, he can contact me and I'll mail it. As far as my stuff is concerned, he can do what he wants with it. Stuff can be replaced, but my dignity can't.

Don't even think of calling this guy to apologize for being mad about the fling remark; it's so easy to get excuses to call back.

A good lesson for the future. Backups, backups and backups. External USB drives are very cheap these days, you can get a 500GB one that slips in your pocket for $50 or less. There's absolutely no reason to risk all your personal data by leaving it on one hard drive. It could be stolen, in a fire, crash, withheld by an ex or even deleted as a vindictive action. You sohuld make sure all your stuff is backed up safely.

it's actually the whole harddrive from old computer that he took out for me and helped me set it up as an external harddrive
