A man who wants to start a family should think more about his own fertility above anything else before he starts casterating his partners for their fertility. The truth is, that by the time men hit 30, their sperm is already on the decline. So if you want to talk fertility, lets talk fertility. And if you want to talk about what the best options are, lets talk about the best options. Lets not only claim that it's women that need to address this issue. There are many complications that can occur because of men's age and changing fertility. And the sooner men are hoenst about this, the sooner men can be honest about women as well. But when I hear guys talk about female fertility only, I know these guys do not want to be real about their own fertility.

Ahh what? Only fertility problem a man has is its hard to get an erection with women over 35!

Fertility in a woman isn't a big issue with me. I'm willing to adopt or mentor a child, like in a big brother problem (I've done the latter). I don't see why people make a big fuss about needing kids to be their own semen when there are plenty of youngsters that need a responsible guardian. A child isn't going to grow into someone who is a benefit to society simply because they are biologically from you.

In any case, there are many attractive women over 30. There could be many more if many women didn't let themselves go. People need to stop demonizing plastic surgery and makeup. It's not horrible if a woman uses it. Any guy will choose a hot woman with plastic surgery over a "natural" dumpy-looking woman.

I understand that BigQuestion. However, just because they go after him, doesn't mean he has to recipocate.

Yes, keep chasing that magical white unicorn Oxy. Keep feeling depressed about how women age but ignore your own aging process and the fact that you just may become less attractive to women as you age as well. Shocking I know. You're 27. A little too old to still hold the mentatily you're showcasing above.

You didn't read what I said clearly. At all. I said, "This talk about women over 30 being generally unattractive is depressing though...It's a downer to believe that as I grow older, the quantity of hot chicks my age will decrease."

I was saying the talk about women over 30 being unattractive was depressing. I never stated I truly believed such things. Similarly, I could say, "All this talk about the weather getting worse is depressing though...it's a downer to believe that as we get closer to summer the weather will get gloomier."

I'm basically saying hearing the talk and letting it affect my opinion will depress me. That's all. Refrain from trying to start a fight.

The happiest men probably find that their idea of "hot chick" changes with age, and they continue to appreciate attractive women in their own age group throughout life.

Some of my friends think I'm weird because my age range is so wide. I like women between 18-60. At first it was between 18-40. But then, two years ago, I saw Les Miserables and found Glenn Close way more attractive than Uma Thurman or Michelle Pfiefer. And then I saw photos of Helen Mirren and other sexy older women and my age range jumped wider by 20 yrs. (negative nancy's photos of Christie Brinkley has helped too)

My problem is not a woman aging but a woman letting herself go. And a lot of women let age depress them to the point of them stop caring about their looks. That's my fear.

Aging for men and women is due to genetics and how well you take care of yourself. Most men age just as badly if not worse then women. Very few people men or women look better with age then they did in their 20's. But that is no reason not to look good for your age.

A smart man takes into account a woman's emotional intelligence as well as how she takes care of herself physically. A smart woman does the same.

This video proves that older women can have it going on too.:)

I noticed

on that same page. I don't agree with all the choices but definitely Sharon Stone, Michelle Pfeiffer (50s), Diane Sawyer, Lulu, Jaclyn Smith (in their 60s!). Too bad Jane Fonda, Raquel Welch and Sophia Loren aren't shown (in their 70s). Of course all of these women were beautiful when they were much younger as well. But being young and beautiful won't guarantee you'll look this good if you don't maintain your looks over time.

Men tend to age better than women, although there are many exceptions. We all have collagen, an extracellular protein, in our skin that helps to repair damaged skin and reduces the signs of aging. The amount of collagen in our skin decreases throughout adulthood, which is why we all start to get wrinkles as we get older. Numerous medical studies show that women tend to lost collagen more quickly than men. See Ayla: Brighter Beauty

Please provide these studies...because I can actually provide studies that show women do not in fact age faster then men. Why men age faster but reproduce longer than women: mTOR and evolutionary perspectives

Its a societal misconception, perpetuated by older men, that men age better than women.

I wouldn't expect my wife to look like that in her 50's, it would require her to have no life outside the gym. Those women require as much time as their male equivalent: the steroid users women hump their teddy bears to on Jersey Shore.

Allow me to rephrase. Peak physical potential is the 20s. I think people knew this is what I meant, but folks always seem to love saying "I looked better at 35 than I did at 20 because of x, y, and z". That may be true, but if they actually did the things they needed to look fab in their 20s, they would have looked loads better then.

The same could be said for women. I hear countless women talk about how confident they became in their 30s. However, in terms of physical looks only, late teens to late 20s seems to be prime. Thats if people take care of themselves and seek to reach their max potential.

Theoretically, that may be true, but there's no way to ever know. It's not always just about working out or being fit either. My mother worked out all her life (still does) and she looked better at 30 than at 20. By far. STRESS is the biggest factor, many times, in terms of not looking your best so becoming more confident and secure in yourself and finding ways to diminish stress may actually improve your looks. Also, some people -- those prone to oily skin especially -- have the best skin in their 30s. Where it was too oily in their 20s, it becomes perfect in their 30s (for most people this is not true -- most people reach "skin peak" in their 20s and have to maintain it through skin care, but not true for all).

I just think there are a lot of variations. And I also give very little thought to "potential" anything in a person -- we all have immense potential that goes unachieved, even those of us who achieve a lot.

My problem is not a woman aging but a woman letting herself go. And a lot of women let age depress them to the point of them stop caring about their looks. That's my fear.

FWIW, I think this is more likely to be a fear with younger women who are attractive than older women who are attractive (and have thus already decided not to let themselves go, whereas the younger woman still has that decision before her).

That said, I don't care what age range people date. I used to really hate older men who tried to date girls in their 20s when I was dating (because a small subgroup of them always seemed to hit on me, pester me, and try to mess up my game with the guys I actually wanted to talk to and date) but now I'm married and don't even care about it on that level. All I'd say is respect other people's age limits. If a 22 year old says you're too old for her, walk away right then and accept it.

While it isn't a guarantee, looking at her family (her mother, grandmother, older sisters) can give some insight. My H found it reassuring that my mother was attractive to him--sort of looking at me 25 years in the future.

If a woman's family does not take care of themselves, look to see if her habits match theirs, or if she has a very different attitude about it. My H's dad is a hot mess, lol, but H has always been critical of his dad's lifestyle and gone in the other direction.

This is the future for women of today. They can take care much better themselves than ever before. For example, I'm soon to be 30 and look 19-21. So do my most of my friends of same and older age.

^^This might be the funniest thing I've ever read on here.

Women can look very attractive into their 40s. However, a man who wants to start a family will generally not settle for a woman in her 40s if he thinks he can get a comparably attractive women in her 30s who will likely be more fertile.

Whatever.

As I often remind you, I'm old. Past the half century milestone. I have lived and continue to live a very rich life full of all sorts of people. I have friends of all ages and genders.

I am certain that I have NEVER known of an enduring marriage that was based upon a man thinking, "I won't settle for this woman because I believe I can get a comparably attractive woman in her 30's who will likely be more fertile," and/or a woman thinking, "I have so much I want to do in life that won't mesh well with starting a family now; however, I better snatch up this 'good guy' who is attracted to my hotness because it's probably now or never for me."

Do you get that?

I'm sure marriages are embarked upon with such ridiculous concepts, but those will NOT set the groundwork for successful ones. I promise.

If we live long enough, we all will experience and pass through our "peak" of physical good looks. It comes and goes. It's really cool to look great and be full of energy and raging hormones but it's very fleeting and really not a moment in life, for many of us, that's appropriate to bear a tremendous amount of importance compared to the plethora of other moments in a lifetime.

Honest.

Aging well has everything to do with how a person takes care of their body and not their gender. I have seen women in their 50s who look gorgeous and have seen late 20 year olds who look like utter hell and in most cases it is because they took care of their body. The human body like most things stays in better shape for much longer if you take good care of it..

Look what happened to Prince Charles and Princess Diana. His enduring love was and is Camilla.

I know this is a horrible joke to make but it just popped into my head. How can he be her tampon if she has already went through menopause? Wouldn't that make him useless? I am sorry but I had to say it.

In my case, I was thankful to make it out of my 20's alive. I reached my peak of physical attractiveness and sever other high points in my 30's.

I mean, maybe if I were comatose and laid out naked on a gurney for inspection, and had my viable eggs tallied as well, I might have been more "ideal" as a breeder in my 20's. But it didn't turn out that way in real life.
