add2718 Posted March 25, 2012 Posted March 25, 2012 My girlfriend broke up with her ex back in August and we started seeing each other in November. There has been some contact with him since the breakup, which I didn't really like... such as getting random texts from him in the middle of the day... and she tells me he still tells her he wants her back, wants another chance, etc. I never really saw this as much of a problem until recently, when me and her were talking on the phone and I mentioned a text that I had sent her earlier in the day. She told me "I didn't get that text, my phone's been acting up lately." So I respond, "Okay, let's go get you a new phone". To which she responds, "Ummm, actually, someone already gave me one." "Oh, that was nice, who did that?" I asked, thinking it was a female friend or her sibling. "(long pause).... My ex." So I'm pretty taken aback by this... So this must mean that she's been talking to him and mentioned that her phone is crappy. She tells me he sent her his old phone or something (an i-Phone) in the mail. I got a little upset with her on the phone, and told her that this sends the wrong message to him, that she shouldn't be accepting free phones from her ex, and that she could have at least mentioned it to me first. Her responses: "You didn't tell me not to accept it." "Plenty of guys would have bought their girlfriends new phones." "I'm poor and I need a phone." I haven't had the greatest amount of girlfriend experience, but I think this is totally unacceptable, and her responses make me out to be the bad guy, which is BS. Thoughts?
cflowers32 Posted March 25, 2012 Posted March 25, 2012 I think she's totally wrong. The fact she excepted the phone is wrong, and the fact that she's COMFORTABLE with accepting the phone, also seems wrong to me. I don't blame you for being upset.
