SJC2008 Posted March 24, 2012 Posted March 24, 2012 I figured it's a good queston since I'm so out of the loop and my parents never taught me $hit about dating or anything. My father never taught me about women and what they are like and my mother never taught me about women. Is this the norm? Or did most people's parents "teach" them about the latter sex?
CC12 Posted March 24, 2012 Posted March 24, 2012 You're not referring to the basic, "Birds and Bees talk", right? You're talking about dating, yes? My parents didn't teach me about dating. I think most parents expect you to figure it out on your own. And they didn't teach me about the opposite sex. I'm glad they didn't try. I wouldn't want them filling my head with stereotypes or their personal opinions/hangups. All people are different, there is no "Men are like this" and "Women are like this." If anyone makes generalizations like that, you can instantly disregard it because it is simply not true.
TaraMaiden Posted March 24, 2012 Posted March 24, 2012 my Mother taught me two extremely important facts: One: "On a first date, avoid the 5 'S's....Spaghetti, spinach, spare-ribs, sweetcorn-on-the-cob and sex". Two: "It doesn't matter what job they have, how much they earn, what car they drive, what clothes they wear or what house they live in: they're only ever 9 years old. Max." My Father taught me two extremely important facts: One: "No matter how men treat you and what you think of them, you can always count on your dad." (He was right, too often to count....) Two: "Listen to your mother: when it comes to men, she's never been wrong. Present company included." 1
oldguy Posted March 24, 2012 Posted March 24, 2012 What you learn from your parents is what you observe. Countless self help books that are based on countless psych texts confirm that. As for advice; see TaraMadens post, especially the one about dad being right

I ignored them. i'd be a retard virgin if I followed their advice of being nice and sweet and all that ****. I do what I want when I want and women are drawn to that.
