youngster Posted March 23, 2012 Posted March 23, 2012 I've recently come into contact with a girl I haven't seen for 20 years. She and I have been texting back and forth completely platonic exchanges for a few weeks but she asked me and another mutual old friend (whom she is much closer to, but we all went to grade school together) out for drinks tonight. Now I am approaching this as a very friendly just kind of "let's catch up" kind of meet, however it strikes me as odd since, A) it's not too common to want to meet up with someone from your past B) this is EXACTLY how I started seeing my last GF. And C) here's the one that gets me a little nervous- this girls i am meeting for drinks are/were very close with my ex and I find it strange that they pop in as soon the relationship ends. Now I'm pretty sure no one even knew that I was dating my ex since she kept me hidden from her life. I'm probably just being paranoid..........right?? Oh, and both girls are in serious relationships.
2sunny Posted March 23, 2012 Posted March 23, 2012 It's when you go in with no agenda and no expectations. 1
CarrieT Posted March 23, 2012 Posted March 23, 2012 What 2sunny said - but I would also go in and not mention your old girlfriend; just talk positively about changes you have made in your life and good things are doing. Be vague about relationships and stick to more banal items but, perhaps, talk more old times...
