Feanor Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 When I get drunk I get really weird. I send late night text messages to girls I barely even know! I tell people I love them even though I hardly know them! I go on online dating sites and send strange messages to people. When I wake up the next day I feel horrible. It also ruins my prospects with women that I'm interested. I don't know what to do. I like going out and having a good time but I also want a woman in my life. I'm a nice guy when I'm not drinking. Is quitting the only answer?
pteromom Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 Yes. Quit getting drunk. You don't have to quit going out and having a good time, but you can slow down so you don't get stupid-drunk!
Dust Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 I think you know exactly what to do. For beginers stop using the term "creeper" you sound like girl. Finaly just stop getting drunk.
dasein Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 Advice I hesitate to give because it sounds so social workerish, but you describe a real drinking problem. Stop drinking altogether, it's causing problems in your social life, other problems will follow.
ditzchic Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 Drink water and pretend you're drunk. You can still let your inhibitions down and have a good time and everyone else around you is too drunk to notice that you aren't drinking alcohol.

This is tough because when you are sober around a bunch of people drinking, you end up disdaining them and get bored and sleepy just being around them. OP have you considered cocaine?
zengirl Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 Can you drink without getting drunk? If not, I say stop drinking.
sweetsmmr91 Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 Hahaha, do not consider cocaine. But yeah, I think the only logical explanation is to quit drinking. Although my friends and I have a rule where we take each other's cell phones if we try to text exes. And basically keep an eye out for "clingy, needy drunk girl" activities. Unfortunately you're a guy and guys don't babysit each other as well So yes, quit drinking! Do you do these things when you're in a relationship and drinking?
Dust Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 Drink water and pretend you're drunk. You can still let your inhibitions down and have a good time and everyone else around you is too drunk to notice that you aren't drinking alcohol. I can do this but many people can't. For me just being in a silly atmosphere brings down my inhabition whether peole are drunk or not. Sadly some people have to get drunk before they can do the things they realy want. Problem is the things you really want aren't necesarily the things you really want when sober so you end up making a fool of yourself. I've been drunk before and I clearly remember thinking things were a great decision which seemed ridiculous once I sobered up. It's just a very vulnerable position to get yourself drunk. Something as simple as walkng down the stairs can end your life. If you do something bad when drunk saying "I was drunk" only makes it worse.
tman666 Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 Dude, I turn into a creeper too when I drink! That's half the fun!
Author Feanor Posted March 21, 2012 Author Posted March 21, 2012 I've moved to a new area recently and I don't know a lot of people so I think it makes it worse. Sometimes I go to bars and try to meet people there but maybe that's not the best place to try and make new friends. The last few women I've been with were kind of heavy drinkers. They always wanted to go out to the bars. At the time I thought it was cool but I look back on it and realize that they weren't the best situations. I know one of them ended up in AA. I can drink without getting drunk, I'll grab a bottle of wine and drink it slowly. But other times there is that one drink which will put me over the edge and I won't stop.
silvermercy Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 You sound in danger of being an alcoholic, if not already one. Take this test and find out your risk: 4ad.com/tallahassee/quiz.html
